1. Why do states that vote predominantly conservative, the so called red states, receive more federal dollars than they send in? Why do the liberal blue states send out more in taxes than they receive back? Sounds like the conservative states are the ones getting the so called handouts.

2. Why do you assume that all liberals are poor or poor people are all liberals?

3. What do you view as a handout? I've been working for 40+ years, putting into SS and Medicare the whole time. When I retire in another 10 - 15 years and start collecting SS and medicare (if Romney and Republicans don't fuck it all up), are those "handouts" or are they paid for benefits?

Yes. You have been fed, and are feeding into the same partisan hyperbole that has taken our country in the direction it is currently going. When you start by generalizing all liberals as poor people looking for a government handout it is hard for anybody in the political mainstream to take you seriously. In case you didn't know, people on this board like Sniperfire, LadyGunslinger, CrusaderFrank etc. are not part of the political mainstream. They are the kind of far right loons the Republican party has been trying to distance themselves from publicly.

On the other side you have people like Franco and Dean who are equally ridiculous for generalizing all conservatives as rich, greedy, uneducated, racist etc.

If you are just recently getting into politics I can already see you headed down the wrong path.

1- From what I can tell in cases like Az a good amount of federal money comes here in support of the reservations and other social engineering disasters. Those people have nothing and exist entirely on government money. Basically you're sending tax dollars here to pay for the groups of people that were not wanted in their original places so they dumped them all here.

2- While the rich come in conservative and liberal versions the poor are pretty dominantly liberal due to the dependance on government funding.

3- The problem is too many people think they "invested" in SS. You didn't invest in jack squat. Your taxes today pay for the retiree's of today and when you retire the current tax payers will support you. If they can. And that's the key is if they can. Until now the baby boomers were the workforce and outnumbered the retired. That is changing and soon the working age will not be able to keep up.

You're right; I do agree that not all Liberals are expecting a handout. In fact, I know of many wealthy liberals who work hard and are doing quite well.

But I've noticed a trend among them. Most tend to lean to rather socialist values. Granted, not all of them are. The same way not all conservatives are greedy, arrogant bastards, like you said.

Maybe a better title for the thread would be "Why Socialists need Capitalists." That would probably make a little more sense. But I figured I'd get a few more views and posts with the Liberal VS. Conservative argument. Consider it marketing.

Simply put, my main argument it this:

The entitlement community cannot exist on it's own. It cannon sustain itself. That's why it's necessary for a healthy economy that you have people who have the liberty and ability to distance themselves quite visibly from the entitlement community in a financial sense. Because in the end, they're the ones who maintain the lower echelon that doesn't contribute.

You're right; I do agree that not all Liberals are expecting a handout. In fact, I know of many wealthy liberals who work hard and are doing quite well.

There is no entitlement community, there are VICTIMS of the Pub financial and housing meltdown, and now 3 1/2 years of mindless obstruction. A Pub health reform plan did not magically become socialism just because lying Pubs and Fox etc said so.
