We will see how you guys act 'if' the US is ever on top.

On top of what? The stupid report put out by the United Nations?

What a bunch of blithering self-serving blather. What does "Human Development" mean anyway?

When you look at the FACTS you can see that the U.S. has the second highest GDP per capita in the world. It only follows Luxemborg which has the teeny tiny population of 500,000. Big whoop. I'm sure we have small cities of that size that have a higher GDP than Luxemburg.

Sex pros get ready for party

With thousands of Republicans set to invade the city this summer, high-priced escorts and strippers are preparing for one grand old party.
Agencies are flying in extra call girls from around the globe to meet the expected demand during the Aug. 30-Sept. 2 gathering at Madison Square Garden.

"We have girls from London, Seattle, California, all coming in for that week," said a madam at a Manhattan escort service. "It's the week everyone wants to work."

"It's going to be big," agreed one operator at a midtown escort service.

Charging from $300 to upwards of $1,000 for an hour of companionship and a whole lot more, escorts said they can always count on conventioneers for big business.

"It doesn't matter what party you come from," said Robyn Few, a $500-an-hour California call girl who now runs Sex Workers Outreach Project, an advocacy group. "When you want to buy sex, you will."

That's the hope among escort services expecting a windfall from randy Republicans.

"We've got everything organized - the hotels, the flights, the advertisements," said another escort service operator. "We'll probably have 60 girls that week, instead of the usual 30."

I bet the same thing is happening at the DNC Convention. The only difference being that the majority of the hookers there will probably be MALE prostitutes for the Barney Franks of the DNC.

you are automatically assuming that the hookers are not going there to service either 1) the reporters or 2) the demonstrators.

Not sure how you find the hypocracy. There are a lot of single GOP members too.

Also, don't forget, one of the most conservative states in the Union - Nevada - is the only state with legalized prostitution.

DOH!

:funnyface :finger3:

To clarify on the UN standing. The difference between the top 14 countrys is so small that it's essentially meaningless. Think of it as a "photo finish" for the top ten.

Single or not, prostitution is illegal in New York and immoral in any state of the Union. Nevada being a GOP state only hurts your argument even more.

You think the influx of whores are for the reporters and demonstrators? :wtf:

Immoral by what standard?

How does Nevada being a GOP state hurt my argument? You are assuming that all GOP members are members of the Church of Christ or something like that. I have a BIG surprise for you. THEY AREN'T! Just like not all democrats are communist.

You assume the influx of whores are for the GOP members. Last I heard, reporters will outnumber convention goers by some ungodly number. So it only makes sense to me that they are going there for the biggest crowds - reporters and demonstrators.

DOH!

The legal standard in most states and the religious standard by most religions. I posted the article as an example of how the GOP claiming the moral high ground is hypocritical. They are as sexually deviant as the Democrats so why do they try and claim this space?

well, just cuz hookers are going there, that does not mean that the conventioners will "hire" them. again, you are ASS U ming.

I am responding to the original post that asserted:

In as much as family/traditional values teach personal responsibility, commitment, self-reliance and faith in god, they are anathema to the liberal agenda.

It seems by your statement, you disagree with rtwngAvngr. The article I posted is about the influx of high priced call girls ($300 - <$1000). Do you think the working stiff reporters and demonstrators are in the market for that? I happen to agree with you freeandfun1, the moral high ground should not be claimed by any party. It is recipe for a large helping of hypocrisy.

One article about the hopes and preparation of hookers servicing whoever at the Gop convention is hardly demonstrative of most of the conservatives in this country.........Im sure just as much will be going on in Boston.....Good luck finding that in the mainstream press though. Secondly I think the whole point of this posting was a general argument re the philosophies or moral standards of each party platform Liberals vs Conservatives (I could be wrong about that). If you go back in time to the 80's when Republicans first brought up the issue of family values they were bombarded by all those on the left with laughter and ridicule.......The only values coming from the left these days is... anything goes, and how dare anyone's actions be judged unles you are Bush, anyone in his adminstration, a conservative, a Republican, or devoted to religion.......
