Why is the price of gas so high, when there's a glut in the oil supply?

If it was bush's fault in 2008 it's Obamas fault now ... them's the breaks.

Bush started a war in the middle east.

That would tend to affect oil prices.

However, personally, I don't think the price of oil in 2008 was Bush's fault either.

Regardless of what you believe, If Obama gets the credit for good stuff he's not responsible for he's gonna have to take the hit for the bad stuff he's not responsible for too. Simple as that.

You guys are nuts, an oil company shuts down a refinery that's losing money because it's costs are too high thanks to Obama's EPA, and you say it's because they want to drive up prices and they're out to get Obama. What absolute nonsense.

OK, feel free to provide some proof that something besides the low price of oil caused the shut downs.

This isn't rocket science here.

The low price of oil caused the cost of refining it to become too high for comfort.

So, the oil companies shut down some of their refineries.

I'm not trying to say that they're evil for seeking higher profits, I'm simply pointing out the fact that it's their fault.

Perhaps in your mind.

But this is really a simple concept, and I'm quite sure the public will easily understand what's been going on.

can u prove that it was because of the EPA? since the oil industry is enjoying record profits, this easily counters your argument.

According to the Fluffers' Obama's perfect, nothing bad is his fault, only sweetens and light flow forth from him. In fact, Jesus and Mohammad and Buddha are patzers in comparison

Oil companies are deregulated? Do tell.....[/QUOTE]

If they were regulated, gasoline wouldn't be going over $100/BBL and $5 a gallon. Does someone have to actually spell that out for you?

Let's not notice that obama ordered 30 refineries to shut down.

In Texas, like a year ago. Which has nothing to do with the current phenomenon.

The problem is local refineries, which is why the Northeast has gas prices of $4.10 a gallon, while in Colorado, it's like $3.50.

obama shut down 30 refineries because the EPA has ordered separate blends for different areas in the US. Refineries that are not equipped to produce the required blends have been shuttered.

I'm glad, because ultimately no matter how painful it is now, it will help to get obama out of office.

OK, you're going to have to provide a link for that..

And please make it one that's not a right-wing propaganda site.

Oh, and also, the few in Texas that actually were "shut down", weren't really shut down, they just had to apply for new permits.

Here's a local news story to back that up:

EPA pulls permits for two Texas City refineries

EPA Regional Administrator Al Armendariz said none of the facilities will be required to shut down but all will be required to obtain new permits under stricter guidelines.

What's your blend? That's the difference in price, it's the stupid blends.

Not to worry, obamas going to be shuttering power plants next. That's phase two.

Obama

Not to worry. In 50 years we'll be using algae.

damn that ole air pollution problem. no wonder Houston's air quality is so good these days. if only Texas could pollute more to make up for that

gas can only have up to a 10% ethanol blend unless its E85, which only certain car and trucks can use. so its not really that much of an effect on price. the price is more dependent on state and local taxes, as well as geographic location. the farther it has to be transported, the more expensive it will be.

That has nothing to do with the difference in price.

The refineries that were shut down in Philadelphia, for instance, which is the direct cause of high prices in the Northeast, had no issues at all with the EPA, or with "blends".

It's high because Our Kenyan President has made it clear that he and his regime will not allow development of any domestic energy. That eliminates speculation entirely since ever-rising prices are not longer a possibility - they are a sure thing.

But you'll get used to it. Or be punished for objecting.

Yeah... except that your statement is completely non-factual.

There is currently a glut in the crude oil supply.

Therefore, whether the president is allowing more drilling or not would make no difference at all to the current price gain.

The bottleneck is at the refineries.

But you can keep on repeating your talking points, I guess...
