It has always puzzled me who the United States of America is probably the only nation on this planet that does not allow its military forces to protect and defend our borders!


France, Germany, Austria, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium, and other European countries all have border guards who are part of their defense forces and have military equipment.

I understand it has to do with the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 after Reconstruction in which local police cannot use federal military units to enforce the law. States have their own National Guard units and the law has been interpreted to mean even they cannot be used - although the NG has been called out by governors for things like Little Rock.

Why cannot - or will not - Congress make changes to the law to use military forces to control our borders?

It is the ONLY WAY we will control illegal immigration - as well as cut off the flow of drugs from across our borders.

You first, the entire premise of the OP is idiotic.

First, undocumented immigrants aren’t allowed to vote, as many conservatives seem to think.

Second, the notion that Obama is ‘for “illegal” immigrants’ is moronic given the fact more deportations have occurred during this Administration then the previous.

Third, prosecutorial discretion is not ‘amnesty,’ nor a failure on the Administration’s part to enforce immigration law; indeed, it’s a responsible and necessary practice designed to ensure the most dangerous criminals are captured and deported.

Easy Access to Illegal Voting

The Motor-Voter Act, signed by President Clinton in 1993, specifies that the voter registration process must be offered and facilitated at state departments of motor vehicles and at state welfare offices. According to a recent audit by the Texas Secretary of State’s office, 600,000 registered voters in across the state do not have a valid driver’s license or state issued ID. This should not be surprising since Texas does not require presentation of identification when registering to vote.

While the Texas legislature recently passed a bill sponsored by Sen. Troy Fraser (R-Horseshoe Bay) which requires voters to show valid ID at the polls, such as a driver’s license, state concealed handgun permit, U.S. military ID or a U.S. passport.

However, the law is being held up by the Obama Justice Department. The DOJ claims to be currently reviewing the measure on grounds of possible discrimination against minority voters.

The Obama administration has overseen more deportations then Reagan, BushI, Clinton and BushII. Additionally..National Guard units were sent to the borders.

Additionally..the President doesn't favor one religion over another. That's basically what the Constitution says to do.

So unlike you conservative folks..Obama favors the Constitution and is an American Patriot.
