There are a plenty of very wealthy people in Africa. It is the people that are poor. The reason is simple. Africa is a resource rick continent and as such those in power do not need the people.

North Africa has limited resources. South Africa has tons, but the English and Dutch took control of it benefitting themselves and not the native population, from which it is rebounding, thanks in large part to the remarkable transition by one of my greatest heros: Nelson Mandela.

Sub Saharan Africa, is very abundant, and thus tribal living was easy, for the most part, and not in need of much change to sustain human evolution. So it lacked the technology advances that humans who'd migrated to harsher circumatances required, making African people and lands easy prey for conquest and taking of its abundance by force and genocide.

So it needs our help, in many parts.

They don't all get a free education like us. You make it seem like they have the same opportunities as American children, but in reality they don't. Education's no walk in the park when most of the continent is littered with conflict( including civil wars), hunger, and deadly climates. Many nations(in every race) through history went through dictatorships and very few actually stood a chance at fighting for democracy.European nations in WW2 who had dictatorships got lucky when the allies won and changed their governments. Yet you assume Africans accept it while ignoring the fact that they have as much of a chance at resisting as Europeans under a dictatorship. How the leader runs the country isn't always up to the people.
