Why IG Walpin is fired?

The whole deal with opposition to 0bama should be on constitutional principles. The whole argument against him is that he makes it up as he goes along.

We should not get into the position that his violation justifies another violation in return.

We really need to stay on dry land on this and not get into that swamp.

It is a tough problem though.

Who in this thread, or anywhere else, is advocating to return a violation?

Just curious...

This is from a discussion up topic where someone was advocating greater congressional control over executive appointments.

Ahh... gotcha...

But in this case, it doesn't matter... as the congress is every bit as in the bag as the Executive, one is merely the extension of the other...

The simple fact is that by any objective analysis, this regime is subversive to the very concept of America... and as such they're not worthy of any measure of trust.

Sadly, they're in the highest offices of trust in US Government...

They constantly insult and alienate. First the Rich (who do not have enough for them) then the Christians, then the Jews and Israeli's then the women and now the elderly. What do they think there are enough liberals, white or black ,that they can alienate everyone.

Gonna be a price for this wait and see.

I won't go as far as the speculating of all the crimes that Obama has committed by firing this guy or the speculation of evil opportunities for Obama with letting this gentleman go, but I will say that I personally believe that this firing should be investigating and ascertained as to whether he was let go because of further actions they feared him of doing, or past actions for what he had done that were negative in some way to obama.... or because of what the Obama team is saying....

I just know that if this could be investigated quickly and at a reasonable cost to us tax payers, it should be... I would expect this to be investigated if it were President Bush or any President out there...including Obama.

It doesn't look good, something could be amiss, and if President Obama justly feels he has reasons to want him replaced, he does have the right to pick the replacement, (with the Senate's advice and consent), but he should NOT FEAR an investigation, he should willingly want one to clear the air on it imo.

Oh King Hussein has justifiable fears for wanting him replaced... but nothing about this regime 'looks good' from any objective American observer.

And if you truly believe that guy, who is as crooked as a ram's horn doesn't fear an objective investigation... then you've just not been paying attention.

well, I am not a psychic, like you, this is why I think it should be investigated...but just the mention of the word ''gate'' gives me the he bee gee bees and a feeling of dejevue that this is ONLY about Obama bashing as in Clinton bashing, to you, and i sure as heck don't want to waste taxpayer's money or time, for the political posturing of republicans. with a bunch of needless ''gate'' investigations.

in other words, bullcrap to crying wolf or foul ever other second with this gate and that gate etc....PICK AND CHOOSE your battles, limit them, and may you choose wisely....

Well the use of ...-gate was old by the early 80s...

But this regime is inherently corrupt... and given the media has traditionally provided the impetus for the investigation of such and that the media is little more than a campaign agent for this mob... and the pwoer that he's grabbing up; there's no chance of him being objectively 'investigated' by anyone.

Constitutionally speaking Obama has every right to appoint people he deems worthy for the offices that are vacant. Further, the Congress has the duty to approve of those people. While he does have the ability to terminate them at will, I would submit then, by doing so don't call into question the previous Administrations ethics for doing the exact same thing unless your willing to look at your own.

The Americorps are "brownshirts"?!

Some of you people are simply fucking nuts.

Now as to this firing?

Sure looks bad to me. It looks politically stupid to me, too.

We read that some nitwit in the O admin was using the Americorps workers.
inapproprately. That person obviously should be shitcanned.

We are lead to believe that Walpin reported this fact, which of course, he should have done...but to the Administration, not the press

Becasue Walpin works for Obama, no?

Had he gone through normal channels, instead of announcing this problem to the press, I suspect there'd have been no firing of Walpin.

But, again, based on the reports, Walpin brought this issue to the attention of the press.

We can only intuit Walpin's motives for doing that.

But in the parlance of our political times, that makes Walpin a loose cannon in O's admin.

Hence he was fired.

Personally, if they above conjectured story is is the whole truth, I think Obama had the right to fire Walpin, but did so hamfistedly.

By firing him in the way that it is reported, it makes him look like he is punishing Walpin for doing his job, and NOT for going to the press.

I'm sure as this story plays out we'll learn the facts of this case and all be better able to understand the details which will give us a better understanding of who did what and why.

I listened to an interview with IG Walpin, and read the stories, and he is clearly being fired for interfering with the "authority" to reward supporters.

You seem even handed, and I'm going to say Orwellian, in not swallowing the party line.

For those unfamiliar, George Orwell began his political journey as a communist, fighting with the leftist in the Spanish Republicans, against Franco and the fascists. Along the way, he found out how dangerous it was to oppose the totalitarian Stalinists, barely surviving the purges in Barcelona. As a result, he became a democratic socialist, writing about the far Left’s devotion to tyranny.

While left and right are facile distinctions, we should never forget the words of James Woolsey, Director of Central Intelligence, 1993-1995:
“…there are difference in appetite for central authority as well as difference in social and economic goals; people may agree on ends but not means…[some] may have strong disagreements about…the degree of income redistribution that is reasonable or the character of health care systems…but he never lapsed into blaming democracies first.”

Some on this board resemble Orwell, standing with the poor and oppressed, but, like many of us on the right, fall into the ideological trap.

I hope our left-wing colleagues, those who aspire to Orwellian socialism, who thought that the previous administration went too far in firing federal prosecutors, or believed that there was a Valerie Plame Plot, will castigate the current administration for the heavy-handed firing of Inspector General’s who performed their function even against the administration’s cronies.

Beware strict adherence to the ‘party line.’

Bottom line: The AmeriCorps IG accuses prominent Obama supporter of misusing AmeriCorps grant money. Prominent Obama supporter has to pay back more than $400,000 of that grant money. Obama fires AmeriCorps IG..
The guy does his job as a non-partisan overseer, saves the taxpayer nearly half a million dollars in misused taxpayer monies, and is fired for whistle-blowing.

What Federal law covers firing of whistle-blowers in the private sector? I'm pretty sure it's damn illegal there.

Actually, it's worse than you thought. I heard the full hour interview with IG Walpin, well spoken and intelligent. He pointed out that the administration deal allows Johnson to borrow the money from his organizationwithout actully paying back , and the organization is - get this- bankrupt.

Anyone see the CUNY fellowship deal which cost the taxpayer $80 million to an Obama supporter.

Same Walpin who spotlighted it.
