Why I became a Republican...

I gave up on the Demacratic party during the final year of Clintons first term...

I was very active in my county democrats club and we would meet monthly to stratigize on ways to gain more Clinton supporters for the upcomong Presidential election and also encourage people to vote democratic in the local elections. The more involved I got the more I was introduced to the immoral ways the Democrats were statigizing to get votes for the election.

The two things that I found most shocking were.

First we sent hundreds of unoin workers door to door with a scripted lie they were to tell residents. The first lie they were instructed to tell residents is that they were the parents of a local family (in most cases they werent even from the town they were canvasing) 2nd was that they were very likely going to loose their jobs if the following democrats werent elected and would and beg for the vote... It was wrong, immoral, but very effective.

The other was on a local level in primarily republican or borderline townships they decided to bring busses into the apartment communties(low voter turnout areas) and go door to door and encourage people to get on the bus to be taken to the proper voting facilities. Once on the bus the would give everyone a list of who and what legislatures to vote for once they arrived at the polls with a list of half truths dictating why. This included a coupon for a free drink and chips at a local store compliments of the Democrats club. basically they were buying votes for free coffee.
It was disgraceful.

This is still common Dem practice through out NJ...

I saw a lot of that too. I was signing up voters in So Cal and they really didn't want us pushing the immigration status on who we where registering... "Let the higher office figure out who is and isn't".

Without fraud, Dems would win alot fewer elections

I really dont see the difference between these two partys. Aside from the republicans wanting to flood the gates of government with evangelical bullshit. They love to exploit christians and everyone just eats it right up, its rather revolting.

But overall I really dont see a difference. When you vote, your not voting for change, your just voting for two people in charge of the same company. Its called "slavery incorporated". They both want YOUR money to go to programs that make them money. They just choose different clever ways of hiding it, like war, and tax cuts, and christianity.....etc

Despite the downfall of our government, which took place when the last of the founding fathers died. I will still love America because of a little thing called the "constitution" and the "bill of rights". Thats what keeps me here.

By the way IM an Independent. Who is leaning towards obama for next year. Republicans cant even unite their pary, let alone America.

And for gods sake "creationism" is not science. Christianity does not belong within 100 yards of any school. The bible is not the only source for morals, how about parents? Or perhaps common sense. I certainly didnt need the bible to teach me right from wrong.

Is this supposed to be a disguised rant against Chritianity? If Christianity doesn't belong in schools; neither do scientific theories of origin since one is as proven as the other.

You claim Republicans push Christianity, but what is that soul-less secular progressive crap pushed by the left? You neglected to point out YOUR religion.

No...actually Evolution has a lot more evidence than ID.

Exactly what evidence is that?

The evidence is... that evolution was basically imposible.

Darwin himself said. "To believe the Human eye or brain evolved would be absurd"

Many Scientists say that if the big boom theory were true. Our solar system, planet and everything in it would of very likely developed exactly how described in the Bible. Same time frame and everythig. Over a period of about 150 hours after the explosion the world would of went from darkness to light then water then life and so on...

Pretty cool stuff...

Which says nothing about the existence of God.

I'm a Republican because I want a government lead by people who call for and exhibit the highest moral values as individuals and in society.

I'm a Republican because I believe in a limited government that exhibits fiscal responsibility, balances the budget, and cutails governmental power.

I'm a Republican because I want a government that respects my civil rights.

I'm a Republican because I don't want our country to unnecessarily meddle in the affairs of countries other than our own.

I'm a Republican because I don't want people in power who attach pork barrel spending legislation to important bills.

I'm a Republican because I support fact-based, intellgent governance that respects science.

I'm a Republican because I knew that there was no healthcare crisis.

I'm a Republican because I know that I'm supporting individuals who won't corruptly abuse their governmental powers to help cronies, underlings, and rich backers.

I'm a Republican because I know Republicans won't expand the scope of government entitlements such as Social Security and Medicare.

I'm a Republican because I know that Republicans won't attempt to exert Federal power in state matters such as education.

I'm a Republican because I know that a 7-2 Republican Supreme Court will ignore precedent and overturn Roe v Wade.

I'm a Republican because I expect the government to uphold (and, apparently, define) moral values. However, I do not belief the government has the right to tell people how to leave their lives.

I'm a Republican because I don't want to see our country enter into entangling alliances.

I'm a Republican because I know that if only the Republicans controlled the House and the Senate as well as the Executive and Judiciary then something would finally be done about immigration.

The party puts tax cuts over fiscal responsibility. Tax cuts are good, as long as there are spending cuts. Republicans don't cut spending. I'd rather have higher taxes if spending goes up because deficits erode the value of the dollar, which is just a tax increase in another form anyways.

I used to pretty much be a by-the-numbers conservative as late as 2003. Then I realized this. Republicans have lost any interest they might have had in cutting government, and have actually outspent the democrats, even on domestic spending. Running deficits and eroding the dollar is just a sneaky tax--and the higher prices tend to be blamed on greedy businessmen, which leads to calls for more socialism. It also gives the people and their congressment the false impression that asking for more spending comes without cost and without tradeoffs. If we didn't borrow/inflate, people would have to take a long hard look at how much they really want New Program X.

I also changed my view on foreign policy about 180 degrees, and have come to realize that the warfare state is just a big of a big government scam as the welfare state.

But Muslims can pray in public schools now

Well thought out post.

I think we have alot of Independents now, because the Republicans ended up SPITTING on their Contract with America, spitting on their own SUPPOSED VALUES regarding our gvt...

It turns out, that it was all LIES and Spin to get the voters support, only to turn their backs on these values once in complete POWER....imo. :(

Darwin was right about the basics of evolution, but thats about it. And there is tons of evidence for evolution. Here, read about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution

By the way the evolution has nothing to do with the big bang.

On the contrary, The Big Bang has everything to do with biochemical evolution on Earth. Cosmologists think that soon after the Big Bang, the Universe was composed mostly of hydrogen. Galaxies and stars condensed from small gravitational irregularities. Stars were born, lived, and died, sometimes (if larger than two solar masses) exploding heavier elements into space. These heavier elements were formed through the process of nuclear fusion as stars "burned" their fuel. New stars condensed and incorporated these heavier elements. This process repeated over and over again. This is how relatively heavy elements are formed, such as carbon; without which life as we know it would be impossible. Biochemical evolution on Earth is a necessary result of chemical evolution in the Universe. Inextricably linked, both processes continue today, and will for billions of years into the future.
