The fundamental principle of being progressive and liberal is to be pragmatic, to make policy decisions based on facts and evidence, not partisan doctrine and dogma, along with one's 'gut feelings,' as conservatives do; and compared to Sanders, Clinton in fact has a better understanding of what it is to be progressive.
