But, the countries that are overtaking us DO invest in their own. They don't stand around screaming Commie or Socialist at each other. They just do what is right for their own future.

That's why so many are WAY ahead of us in so many areas and why we currently have more than 3 million technical jobs for which we do not have qualified people.

We lead the world in EVERYTHING. We have the best healthcare in the world (best doctors, nurses, technology, resources, etc.). We have the best military in the world. We have the best athletes in the world. We have the best agriculture in the world.

Bogus WHO survey is bogus. Their report couldn't be more biased toward universal systems. The US health system, however, was number 1 in the survey in "responsiveness", which is, after all, the most important aspect. No one dies waiting for care in the US.

It has been proven over and over and over, standardized "free" school doesn't deliver smarter students. Just look at NCLB, the government needs to get out of the education business all together.

Our public school system stinks, teacher's unions prevent good teachers from advancing based on merit, teachers are abused, underrated and should be the most important job holders in this country.

I think everyone agrees private education is much better than public education. Now let's look at the home schooled kids:

When parents can educate children better than our public school system, I think it means we're in trouble.

No free college, in fact we shouldn't put another dime toward education until our public school system does the job we're paying them to do. Get rid of the teachers that don't know how to teach.

Confiscate all personal property and wealth.

Government will provide for the people what they feel the people need.

Free housing,free education,vouchers for food,all people eat the same,transportation will be provided to all to government assigned places of employment,health care provided to all...

I wish some in your party would just stand up and get it over with.

I have 3 kids I would love to know how they are supposed to afford college minus them getting a scholarship of some kind...

Fuck you scumbag. My entire point is how are we supposed to do this so our entire lives aren't spent paying back 100's of thousands of dollars in debt for a college degree..working isn't going to pay for a 30k tuition if you have to attend school full time and work part time..

I hate to break it to you, but right now...where I work....MBA's are a dime a dozen. It really means nothing anymore.

If college is not competative, then it does not work on free market ideals. To many kids are going just to go.

And many other jobs are left unfilled that don't require a college education (per se).

Where I live, you can get a JC two year degree (a good one) for about 1500/semester. You can then complete a four year degree at KU or K-State for about 3000/semester. It does not cost 100 K to get one.

everyone should be able to aspire to higher education.

if someone is not suited for college, it should be because they don't have aptitude or desire... it should not be because their daddy wasn't the governor of a state and their grand daddy wasn't a senator.

student loans have been backed by the government and given without regard to credit worthiness.

the trade off for that is those loans take precedence over all debts but taxes and, like taxes, aren't dischargeable in bankruptcy.

that's a function of competition. if a company can hire 100 college graduates to do a job at a particular entry level salary, they don't need to seek applicants who haven't proven their motivation by getting a college degree.

It's quite simple. Just tell the professors and administrators to roll back their salaries a few decades until you get a tuition you like. For how this works, see what's going on in Chicago.

The whole nation does not owe you a college education. For one thing what do you do with people who piss away $30,000 a year then drop out? They should not only be made to pay, but pay a penalty too. Then there are the ones who are professional students who secure their seat by changing majors every year. Stop that. Don't let them. You make your decision and if you change your mind, pay for it yourself.

Free College Degrees does absolutely nothing but extend adolescence.

I got through college and law school. My Dad never got to being more than a security guard. However, I found out as soon as I walked out of graduation that I had suddenly become a trust fund baby with a legacy education. My rich daddy saw to it that I never had to work a day in my life. In one split second I had become someone who had everything handed to me and couldn't understand what the lives of ordinary people are like.

We have the highest rates of master degrees in the world.

I recommend the system, but it does need to be carefully planned. I don't think it is a panacea.

We don't have qualified people because we lack a sufficient number of people who want to become qualified. Instead they want poverty to be made more comfortable through the efforts of others.
