Why Don't the Democrats Discuss Obama's Policies?

Three years after the end of a recession:
GDP Growth...................Unemployment rate..............Consumer spending
1948-1949 25.4%.......... 2.8%...................................13.5%
1953-1954 12.4%...........4.3%.............................. ....13.9%
1960-1961 18.4%...........5.4%.............................. ....15.3%
1969-1970 16.4%...........4.9%.............................. ....15.2%
1973-1975 14.1%...........6.1%.............................. ....15.1%
1981-1982 18.5%...........7.0%.............................. ....16.5%
1990-1991 9.8%.............6.4%............................. .....10.7%
2000..........9.0%............5.4%................ ...................8.9%
2007-2009..6.4%............8.3%........................ ...........6.5%

you're right... they didn't keep a budget from being passed in order to try to kill planned parenthood.

and they didn't refuse to pass a pro forma debt ceiling resolution which forced us to lose our AAA rating... nah.. never happened.

and the tea people weren't elected to congress for the sole purpose of being obstructionist or anything.

again... bush's policies cost us approximately 750,00 jobs a month. there is nothing in romney's policies or the GOP policies that wouldn't return us to that nightmare.

you guys cut our revenue...
then cut money to the states
which in turn cut firemen, teachers, police, etc...
which in turn raised the unemployment rate
which in turn reduced our revenue...

the fact that we're doing as well as we are in the face of the teaparty invasion and the political extremism of the right is a miracle.

How can this country keep spending money we don't have? It's going to hurt to get us back on track, Jillian. Obama created a committee to look into how to resolve the issues, and then ignored their finding, Jillian. Now we are on the road to across the board cuts at the first of the year.

In fact, he proposed deeper cuts than they even recommended, and got shut down because he also proposed tax increases - something they also recommended and something "thats going to hurt to get us back on track," so why pretend that he never proposed said deep cuts, as though it never happened?

That's not reality, it's fantasy partisan world where everything happens for a reason.

The economy was shedding 800,00 jobs per month when he took office. It has created 4.5M private sector jobs in the past 3 years.

The economy was an annualized 9% of its income when Obama took office. It has since been growing for 12 straight quarters.

The President stuck to his promise and timeline in Iraq and to his promise (with a delay due to the situation on the ground) in Afghanistan.

The President ordered the death of OBL. On the other hand, GITMO is still open.

The President rescinded DADT.

The President quit defending DOMA and took steps towards recognizing all marriages.

The President passed the most significant health care reform package since LBJ and significant, if watered-down, financial reform.

To be honest, I think that a lot of the people in the higher tax brackets wouldn't mind a tax increase as long as they saw some legit spending cuts and not having the added revenue go to paying back unions and cherry picked corporations. That isn't partisan, that is reality.

He proposed a budget that was so deep in cuts that not even a single Democrat voted for it, in fear that their constituents and political opponents would haunt them with it forever. More reality.

He proposed deeper cuts than anyone.

The reality is HE KNEW it would get no support. Nothing more than wasted time.

It doesn't matter - he was leading in the correct manor.

What we need is deep deep cuts. Noone in Congress on R or D side is willing to go deep with their own favorites, and/or their constituencies' favorites.

He was the responsible parent, and proposed what was needed.

0 children voted for it.

Now, the R's on the ticket want to talk about how Obama doesn't somehow know that we need big cuts, and somehow how Obama is unwilling to make any. That is wrong, they are being misleading.

I guess that is what needs to be said when the president didn't have his eye on the ball for the first two years of his presidency. His policies toward corporations, small businesses, energy and Obamacare was a downer for any type of serious recovery. just sayin....

Except they weren't, as evidenced by Corporate profits being at an *all time high.

Tell us again how Corporations are doing better than ever, in history, and at the same time Obama is some big drag on their success.....

These platitudes you just typed, which are without merit, are exactly why "fuck it" comes to mind when considering putting any time or effort into a discussion of any issues.

You contribute to the same ole' same ole' partisan rhetoric, then make a thread like this wondering why nobody wants to have a serious discussion.

And let me post-face (as opposed to preface, if you will) this by saying - - - Democrat partisans are also playing these corny little games, too.

I think a big sticking point is how America is going to increase it's revenue....totally different points of view on this.
A big fear is, and always have been trusting our government to do the right thing. IMO
That's a left thing and that is a right thing.

It's an election year and it seems all the democrats want to discuss is contrived "Dog and Pony Shows". This is a serious election, and Obama's policies are off the table.
I would like to see the left defend what Obama's accomplishments have been, both the good and the bad.

 Obama is out on the road right now discussing his economic and education policies.

It's a shame that 99% of USMB is simply partisan trolling. The only benefit I can possibly see is that it keeps some extreme idiots (of all political leanings) from building up stress and going nuts in the real world.

Really? The first year and half was hammering down his healthcare bill, GT. Nothing serious was being dealt with regarding the economy. Perception has kept the money tight with corporations, small businesses....the unknown will do that, deny that all you want. Energy? For crying out loud, he stated that the coal industry is going to pay dearly.
Oil exploration was hurt with the BP spill and limited in the Gulf, while we send money over to Brazil for their oil exploration in the Gulf. What kind of messages are being sent?

Albeit, Paulitician, Crusaderfrank, and healthmyths are getting kind of sketchy.

I think "chesswarsnow" is just trolling, and Truthmatters just comes off very annoying.

Mr. Shaman is potentially under 10 years old.

Yet somehow we went from losing 800,00 jobs per month when he took office to creating jobs 6 months later.

We went from losing 9% annualized of our income to gaining in six months.

Just saying...

Okay, I'll bite, just what is his economic policies? Or, is it more of a vision and not any serious details?

These are more platitudes, ignoring the fact that the private sector has recovered, 401k's recovered, Wallstreet recovered, Corporate profits exceeded all time HIGHS. Meanwhile, after these stated facts, you put forth more meaningless platitudes in response.

facts, data, facts, data.

platitude, plays to emotion/perception, platitude, platitude.
