Why does the FDA allow ridiculous amounts of sugar in food and drinks?

If we are to believe that the FDA exists in order to insure that food is safe for Americans, then why do they not regulate the amount of sugar that is needlessly dumped into foods and drinks of all types? The answer is they DO NOT insure foods are safe for Americans. They are there to insure that the hospitals are always populated with a steady stream of very unhealthy, fat, diabetic people. That is also why they refuse to change the Narcotics drug schedule. They are also there to insure that the drug industry will not have competition from Cannibis products that would undercut their trillion dollar pain medication business.The FDA is a sham organization run by the drug and health industries just like the FBI and the CIA are now sham intelligence agencies ruined by partisan politics.

An even better question would be why do they allow such high volumes of high fructose corn syrup in foods. Sugar is bad for us, but corn syrup is terrible.
