there's a difference between progressivism and liberalism. and certain people think all democrats are liberals and all republicans are conservatives. technically, the republican party is reactionary.

Like any sort of Philosophy has it's "Good" Parts.. (Not Mentioning Extremist Philosophy's, Like Communism nor Fascism.)

But what do i think of em? I have nothing against them really.. I just don't approve of it, I understand why people would be inclined to be a Liberal/Progressive etc, but it's not for me..

I'm a Conservative, with a hint of Classic Liberalism. And no, not the Conservative Palin and Hannity make it out to be.. I actually despise those two Nuts, The Real Conservatism.

I know I couldn't call myself a Conservative, as I'm not trying to restrict the rights of others. I started off at USMB as a Liberal to the core, now I'm more Libertarian than Liberal probably. However, I can't even trust the Libertarians since they nominate faux Libertarians and support religious whackos like Ron Paul.

Supporting free speech is restricting the rights of others? Advocating decreases in both taxes and spending restricts the rights of others in what way? Wanting to treat people as people rather than on as a racial group is restricting the rights of others how? Allowing self defense is restricting rights how?

Seriously, where on earth do you get this idea that conservatives want to restrict the rights of people by empowering them? it makes no sense whatsoever.

Advocating decreases in taxes? You mean decreases in taxes for the rich, not for anyone else. Bush Tax Cuts and Reagan Tax Cuts are prime examples.

There is a difference between self defense and imperialism, which too many conservatives support.

Let me know when Conservatives and the GOP want to end The War on Drugs, actually not try to ban Abortion in the first trim, stop trying to ban Gambling and Porn. Oh, and don't forget to add stop trying to force Creationism into schools. Plus, actually wanting to cut wasteful defense spending, and I could go on really.
