Into simplistic and stupid political ideologies such as Liberals and conservatives? If we had any brains we would broaden our political thinking beyond ideological thinking and support for self interest and lobbyist groups and the whole nation would be better. Conservatives are generally all about self and obsessed with the dog eat dog ultra-capitalist state of mind. In order for them to maintain their status as haves they constant create more have nots and broaden that gap between themselves and have-nots, plus the religious zealots amongst them, a la Huckabee type people, wish to tell others how to live their lives. Neo-liberals generally have no regards for morals, its because of them that homosexuality is so widespread in America. They basically hypocrites, as long as they have their money and status they're fine and get lax when fighting for others. The most racist people here in the south were liberal so called Democrats.

Overall this country is mostly ruled by Conservative, ultra-capitalists, so why not have a third party to balance things out, like a Socialist party?

The Bass referred to Catholics as being part of a cult and wants homos to die because of the scriptures...geez, man, I've no clue why we Americans divide ourselves.

This is off topic but the Bass will respond nonetheless, Catholic Americans are fellow Americans to the Bass, a person's personal beliefs in religion should be apart from politics, or if they're incompatible with politics, that person should stay away from political discussions totally. The Bass believes Catholics to be a cult, so what, but thats another topic, what the bass is speaking on is politics, and no, the Bass has never stated at any time that he wants homos to be dead, thats contrary to what the Bass believes as a Christian.

I think we divide ourselves because it's really boring to all be on the same side. What in the hell would we talk about ? Politics is the last acceptable arena to be on a side that is politically correct. If you are on any other side you're labeled some kind of satan like racis ,sexist, etc etc etc. Hating the other political party is still ok and even encouraged.

What the Bass is really saying is that these labels such as liberal and conservative are merely useless terms and ideologies and that Americans shouldn't have to make a choice between these two only. It is possible to have more inclusive politics instead of the divisive liberal vs conservative crap. Thats why politics in this country has been stagnant with the same old politics and same old problems

It's not off topic. Your personal beliefs are divisive by nature. If you call a Catholic a member of a cult, do you honestly think they are going to overlook that because you're both Americans? :cuckoo: The Bass is naive.

Secondly, you believe in the scriptures and cite them as backing up your beliefs regarding homosexuality. However:

Leviticus 20: 13 "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

If you don't believe that homos should be put to death then you're guilty of cherrypicking the scriptures.

Sorry Mr. Bass. I was just taking the "division" thingy a bit further than just firing up another political machine with another attractive name.

No where in New Testament does it say to put homos to death. Jesus came to stop all of that. The Bass isn't a Jew so why are you bringing that up for?

Catholics are a cult but religion isn't the focus, its politics. Stop trolling the Bass' posts with ad-hominems.

I think our current divisions don't fit very well for who we are, but differences of opinion are pretty much just one of the parts of being human, vs brainless insects like bees.

And I am one who believes this kind of friction makes things move better. The constant to and fro of insults, vituperation, and sometimes, when no one is looking, an idea or two makes all of us just a bit sharper and a lot better off. When only one is doing the thinking, or everyone is thinking the same thing, than that thought is usually pretty dumb.

Indeed--our opponents help us to define oursleves and encourage us think of new solutions !

I'm going to be honest here when I say that I want to be divided from a man who needs to constantly refer to himself as "the Bass."

Sorry...

Maybe he should call himself The Fonz?

Personally, I think some Americans are just so opposed on certain issues that we go into that "Us against the world" mentality. Heck, that's the mentality our President currently has for Foreign Policy. Your either with us or against us. Bring it on.

Though while he's saying all this, our troops are doing the fighting that he wants the terrorists to bring on. :eusa_whistle:

The Bass has cited the Old Testament in his posts before. You're a cherrypicker.

Catholics are a cult but religion isn't the focus, its politics.
Again, divisive language. One cannot ignore major religious differences and expect it to not crossover into the political realm.

You are :cuckoo: for thinking that nationality as a common denominator can overlook that.

It's human nature for us to divide. For the most part, we all have different opinions and needs. However, when there's confusion, the gap becomes greater. As far as politics are concerned, this division you mention isn't happening accidentally. The people of power want exactly that and they intentionally provide the confusion to make it happen.

I think "the people" can all agree on one thing.....they all want the best for this country. The Republican and Democratic parties don't have "the peoples" best interest at hand though. What they've done is pit the people against each other by creating confusion and these "liberal" and "conservative" labels that people seem to hang onto so proudly. The two parties have built a monopoly where nothing really gets done and the only ones who benefit are the polticians and large corporations. Meanwhile, ignorant citizens still blindly support them while the top 2% of this country are screwing them over day in and day out.

Aren't you usually trying to divide us by skin color?
