Why do the Tea-Party groups wield such power?

Regardless of how strongly and how frequently the mass media tries to paint the Tea-Party groups as far right-wingers, radicals, and nuts, America does not appear to be buying what they are selling. The average American taxpayer has been hammered by taxes, hammered by insane government spending, hammered by lies from our leadership, hammered by unemployment, and hammered by a blatant disregard from our elected officials. American taxpayers have repeatedly voiced their disapproval of proposed changes from the government only to have their elected officials vote to approve those changes. Both sides of the political aisle own a piece of the tea-party pie. The tea-party groups are not comprised of right-wingers only, as the mass media would have you believe. Most tea-party participants are American taxpayers who are fed-up with having special interest groups, lobbyists, and Congressional leadership (if you can call what Pelosi and Reid are doing leadership) calling the shots via various payoffs and coercive techniques while their votes, letters, E-Mails, faxes, and phone calls are ignored.

The tea-party groups are having an effect, as incumbent after incumbent is given the bums-rush at the polling booth. Still, corruption-by-wrote appears to continue. Even as their brethren are being ejected, the remaining elected officials continue to accept donations from special interest groups and their lobbyists. According to an article in the New York Times today (May 23, 2010), titled “Wall St. money floods D.C. in finance bill fight” by Eric Lichtblau and Edward Wyatt, “Members of the House and Senate financial committees have been frequent recipients of Wall Street’s largess and this shows little sign of abating”. In that article, the authors further reference the fact that “So far in the 2010 election cycle, members of the financial committees have far outpaced those of other committees in fund-raising parties by holding 845 events, according to the Sunlight Foundation, a Washington nonprofit group that tracks fund-raisers”. Some of these fund-raisers held by special interest groups took place immediately before crucial votes. Does this show boldness or just arrogance from our elected officials?

When clear signals from the American voter are repeatedly ignored by the elected officials who are supposed to be representing them, Americans will do what Americans have done for over 200 years . . . They will hunker-down and fight. The Tea-Party groups are simply platoons of voters who understand that it is time to turn and fight.

Politicians are not the only ones with leadership ability. Actually, it currently appears that they may be the only ones without it! The current crop of elected officials seem to believe that the American voter will forgive and forget, as they have done so many times in the past. I believe that this time, they are wrong. There are just too many Americans who have watched their homes foreclosed upon, too many who have seen their retirement savings disappear, too many who have watched their children’s and grandchildren’s futures flushed down the drain just to allow elected officials to continue their ride on the government gravy train.

Politicians are usually very adept at playing the numbers game. This time, they appear to have lost count! But . . . that is just my opinion.

two reasons why deranged tea baggers wield such influence

1. they are deranhed lunatics who are heavily armed and are not afarid to use their guns on their "enemies" (liberals, feminists, homosexuals, sane and rational people, people with triple digit IQs, democrats, RINOS)

2. the squeaky wheel always gets the grease

It amazes me that you can't see the fact that it isn't about political party. Does it really matter to you whether it is a Democrat or a Republican who picks your pocket Rikules? They are both doing it and both have been doing it for more years than I care to remember. Both parties are intent on one thing . . . buying votes so they can continue the ride. If you believe that either party is not doing this, you are only fooling yourself. We need to send Washington a message and we need to send it loud and clear: "You people work for us"! I personally do not care whether you replace a Democrat with another Democrat or with a Republican. The current crop of elected officials are so comfortable with the special interest payoffs and pushing through pork-barrel projects to repay those special interest payoffs that they honestly don't see anything wrong with it.

Why do the Tea-Party groups wield such power?
Because it is the first MASS grass roots uprising since the late 1960's.
