Why do progressive liberals hate John Stossel?

There's the articulate, well reasoned retort from the nanny state left we've come to know and love. The logic, the reason, the pinpoint specificity with which you identify, counter and overcome the original statement is impressive; you're quite debater...:eusa_eh:
I would've spelled "foole" with a final "e", just to piss people off.

Why do progressive liberals hate John Stossel?

simple: because he represents the philosophy of our Founders, a philosophy that treasonous liberals hate.

Thank God for FOX! They created the first TV show to represent the basic American political philosophy.

Is Obamacare Stopping Businesses From Hiring?

Businesspeople certainly think so.
John Stossel | December 22, 2011

President Obama says his health care “reform” will be good for business.

Business has learned the truth.

Three successful businessmen came on my Fox Business show last week to explain how Obamacare is a reason that unemployment stays high. Its length and complexity make businessmen wary of expanding.

Mike Whalen, CEO of Heart of America Group, which runs hotels and restaurants, said that when he asked his company’s health insurance experts to summarize the impact of Obamacare, “the three of them kind of looked at each other and said, ‘We’ve gone to seminar after seminar, and, Mike, we can’t tell you.’ I think that just kind of sums up the uncertainty.”

Brad Anderson, CEO of Best Buy, added that Obamacare makes it impossible to achieve even basic certainty about future personnel costs:

“If I was trying to get you to fund a new business I had started and you asked me what my payroll was going to be three years from now per employee, if I went to the deepest specialist in the industry, he can’t tell me what it’s actually going to cost, let alone what I’m going to be responsible for.”

You would think a piece of legislation more than a thousand pages long would at least be clear about the specifics. But a lot of those pages say: “The secretary will determine ...” That means the secretary of Health and Human Services will announce the rules sometime in the future. How can a business make plans in such a fog?

Yes, a president who had 2 communist parents and voted to the left of Bernie Sanders does create a little uncertainty in a free society doesn't he.

Food Bunk

Scientifically illiterate, business-hating media will always do scare stories.
John Stossel | December 5, 2012

...

The scheming lawyers behind the "Food Poisoning Bulletin" argue that without regulation companies will "cut corners." After all, they say, sanitation costs money, so lack of regulation "creates a competitive disadvantage for companies that want to produce quality products."

But that's bunk. It's not government that keeps E. coli to a minimum. It's competition. Tyson Foods, Perdue and McDonald's have brands to maintain—and customers to lose. Ask Jack in the Box. It lost millions after a food-poisoning scandal.

...

It sounds awful! ABC's reporting frightened most school systems so much that they stopped using that form of meat. The food company lost 80 percent of its business.

But the scare is bunk. What ABC calls "pink slime" is just as appetizing as other food.

"Bunk is the polite word," Dan Gainor of the Media Research Center says. "ABC went on a crusade. Three nights in a row back in March, they pounded on this."

Well, why shouldn't they, if there's something called "pink slime" in beef?

"Because it's not pink slime. It's ground beef."

...

It was just one constant hit job."

An effective one. After ABC's reports, Beef Products Inc. closed three out of its four plants. Seven hundred workers lost jobs.

Scientifically illiterate, business-hating media will always do scare stories. Don't believe them.

Most of them, anyway.

How is it even possible you are asking this question??:eusa_eh:
Because you said it was a failure, but didn't give any reasons why.

I want to know what led you to that conclusion.

Uhh...because I belong to a sentient species?
Your question is like asking someone why they think Alaska is cold.
Is there a purpose to such an obvious question? You are new here..either you are being a troll or....
Because, when you are a con tool, you believe what you are told. Simple enough. There is no question at all. IAM was told by the bat shit crazy con sites and fox that what he is saying is true. Never, ever question a con, because it does no good at all. Actual thought is not part of their being. They believe what they want to believe. And call those that want to consider all aspects of something "programmed" because they hate having what they "believe " questioned. For instance, if they are told something by Stossel, then they believe it. No question at all. But if they are told something opposite of what Stossel says, then they become angry at the person who would dare question their conservative hero. Odd, really.
Did you ever wonder, for instance, why they believe the entertainers on fox. Stossel, who has no background, they believe. Any of the entertainers on fox, or on other media outlets, they BELIEVE. No reason why they should. These guys have NO reason to be believed. They are not education experts. They are not economists. Hell, they are not quite even politicians. So, do not ask a con why they believe entertainers. Because it simply makes them mad, and that causes them to attack those who would dare to question their ENTERTAINER HEROES.
Now, even an entertainer can be correct. It is simply that there is no reason to believe so. Funny. If these guys lie to their con base, they are GREAT. On the other hand, if someone proves that they are incorrect on a point, the con HATES that person.
So, there is a whole study on this phenomenon. Really interesting stuff. And, in every study, it turns out that somewhere between 15 and 20% of the population wants, and NEEDS, to be told what to believe and who to hate. They are those who need some one to give them an infustion of "knowledge" that is simple to take and painless. Once they know what to believe and who to listen to, they are set. And, at that point, they believe more strongly than anyone. Much more strongly than smart people who actually spend the time and energy to understand. Much more strongly than those who do not trust any source of information, and need to vet the information that is being fed to them. The very stupidest among us believe strongly that they are the smartest. If you do not believe me, go to a tea party event and talk to the members there. But be careful. It could make you want to shoot yourself in the head.
So, relative to the subject of this thread. I do not hate stossel. He is an entertainer. I have no reason to believe an entertainer, con or liberal. And since time is the ultimate scarce resource, I do not want to have to spend that valuable resource on vetting some entertainer. Rather, it is the cons who hate anyone who would question one of their entertainer heroes. Because, you see, by questioning stossel you are questioning them. And they believe entertainers. Why??? Because they have the NEED to. And because they CHOOSE to believe what they are being painlessly fed.

Why, because you say so? Ironically, you're demonstrating your own close mindedness by suggesting with absolutely no evidence that those who appreciate what Stossel has to say do so because...wait for it...they're close minded! Pot, kettle, I see you've met.

Sorry if this doesn't fit your agenda, but the reality is that this libertarian considered the arguments from conservatives and progressives alike and decided FOR MYSELF that the libertarian argument makes more sense. I appreciate, and believe, Stossel not because "he said it" but because I believe in maximum liberty, free markets and limited government, as does Stossel.

You really should stop suggesting that you know what's in the hearts of other people, because you don't.

It's you lefties who believe what you are being told by the Dems and the mainstream news and lefty blogs. You all seem to think that what they say is truth when it isn't. It's political spin, plus information that they leave out and sometimes just out right lies.
Conservatives & Libertarians have had the same beliefs way before Rush,Fox news and the Stossel types came along.
They are saying what we have been saying all along.
It's refreshing to see some talk radio, Fox news types that reflect the majority of this nations views, rather that the Progressives who have always been in the minority and have Hijacked the Democratic Party.

Do you ever ask yourself why lefty news and radio goes out of business without any Government support? Why they always have low viewer ratings?

Left wing media is inherently non intellectual and biased while Fox shows feature democratric debate. Viewers therefore trust Fox far more because they see two sides of an issue and so don't feel manipulated.

Government Gone Bad

Central planners and liberal politicians are clueless about what really helps workers: a free economy.

John Stossel | December 12, 2012

Politicians claim they make our lives better by passing laws. But laws rarely improve life. They go wrong. Unintended consequences are inevitable.

...

Dan Mitchell of the Cato Institute understands what’s happening.

“Add up all the regulations and red tape, all the government spending, all the tax increases we're about to get—you can understand why entrepreneurs think: “Maybe I don't want to hire people. ... I want to keep my company small. I don't want to give health insurance, because then I'm stuck with all the Obamacare mandates.” We can see our future in Europe—unless we change. Ann Jolis, who covers European labor issues for The Wall Street Journal, watches how government-imposed work rules sabotage economies.

“The minimum guaranteed annual vacation in Europe is 20 days paid vacation a year. ... In France, it starts at 25 guaranteed days off. ... This summer, the European Court of Justice ... gave workers the right to a vacation do-over. ... You spend the last eight days of your vacation laid up with a sprained ankle ... eight days automatically go into your sick leave. ... You get a vacation do-over.”

...

Government is like the person who gets in front of a parade and pretends to lead it.

In a free society, things get better on their own—if government will only allow it.

Why do progressive liberals hate John Stossel?

I doubt most progressive liberals ever heard of John Stossel.

I know damned well John Stossel would dearly love it if they DID hate him.

But one actually has to be somebody before most people have any opinion about you.

"Why is there a Bureau of Indian Affairs?" he said. "There is no Bureau of Puerto Rican Affairs or Black Affairs or Irish Affairs. And no group in America has been more helped by the government than the American Indians, because we have the treaties, we stole their land. But 200 years later, no group does worse."- John Srossel

Only an idiot like Stossel could get a job on Fox.

Stossel talks to a category of people who require someone to blame. It is always 'them over there' who are the cause of anything Stossel and his followers find wrong in America or even the world. Take note of how often he presents a positive view of America? Or how often he discusses the success of the American system? It is always curious to those of us who do something for a living that a person who simply criticizes media or government or unions makes a living talking but not doing. He should do something then he can talk. Here is an example of a person who walked the walk. It is an amazing sight to see, when the liberal becomes awakened to the reality of the communist agenda he is promoting, isn't it? I am happy for John Stossel that he has "seen the light". I am equally happy for Greta Van Susterin who also came out of her stupor and went conservative once Heil Adolph Obama stepped into power. The very best defenders of liberty are ex - marxists. You just can't beat em'. - J.

actually, dear he talks to libertarians who believe in freedom exactly as our Founders did. If you don't like freedom why not go to Cuba with your treasonous communist friends. Better hurry though before it too switches to libertarian capitalism too!!

No wonder our treasonous liberals spied for Stalin and Hitler!

It's the Spending, Stupid!

Ludicrous, irresponsible spending is why we're in trouble

John Stossel | December 19, 2012

...

President Obama says raising taxes to cut the deficit is a "balanced" approach.

Balanced ...

But what's "balanced" about raising taxes after vast increases in spending? Trillions for war, Medicare, "stimulus" and solar panels. Tax receipts rose—after tax-rate cuts—from $1.9 billion in 2003 to $2.3 billion in 2008, the year the recession started. That increase couldn't keep up with the spending. The deficit doubled—actually, more than doubled—as politicians increased spending to nearly $4 trillion! Our debt, at more than $16 trillion, now exceeds our gross domestic product.

Ludicrous, irresponsible spending is why we're in trouble. As columnist Ron Hart points out, Bill Clinton's balanced budget spent $1.7 trillion. "Adjusted for inflation," he writes, "our federal government would (have) a $200 billion surplus. But instead of increasing government spending in line with normal inflation, under Bush and Obama we are spending $3.8 trillion today. Democrats, who believe we have a 'revenue' problem instead of a 'spending' problem, must also think they have a bartender problem, not a drinking problem."
