Why do progressive liberals fear Glenn Beck?

“Are you that stupid?” Glenn reacts to new celebrity infused anti-gov’t surveillance video

10/24/13

With the 12th anniversary of the Patriot Act just days away, a celebrity and whistleblower-filled video castigating mass surveillance has been released. “Stop Watching Us: The Video” highlights the history of government surveillance – in particular, the role of digital technology the internet.

...

From Maggie Gyllenhaal to Oliver Stone, Congressman John Conyers (D-MI) to various whistleblowers, the video is primarily filled with big-government Democrats talking about the evils of big-government surveillance practices. As Glenn explained, this is not a Republican/Democrat issue so much as it a progressive/libertarian debate.

“Really? This is exactly what I exposed when I was at Fox and every progressive voice pilloried me,” Glenn said exasperatedly. “Every single one said I was a conspiracy freak and everything else. And now they come out and they are trying to make this a progressive [cause]?”

...

“Are you really that stupid? And I’m not talking to you. I’m talking to the people in Hollywood. Are you really this stupid,” Glenn asked. “What is the progressive movement? Tell me what it is. Tell me what it is. A benevolent dictator? A benevolent government that takes care of every single need? Are you telling me you are this stupid? Show to me where it has ever worked… in the history of mankind. Answer the question and show me how you got there. Show me your work.”

Richard Dawkins is “sure” Obama is an atheist

Monday, Oct 28, 2013 at 2:20 PM EDT

President Obama’s Christian faith has been called into over the course of his five years in office, and during an appearance on Bill Maher’s Real Time, evolutionary biologist and avowed atheist Richard Dawkins added fuel to that fire by insisting he is “sure” President Obama is an atheist.

Richard Dawkins is ?sure? Obama is an atheist ? Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck ‘Horrified’ by ‘America’s Latest Propaganda Machine’

Oct. 17, 2013 8:30pm Erica Ritz

Glenn Beck on Thursday broached a topic that he said “horrified” him when it was brought to his attention roughly two weeks ago, describing it as an “effort to re-write our history and catalyze a new culture for America” with the help of “America’s latest propaganda machine.”

Beck proceeded to tell his viewers about two groups, the first called “Imagining America” and the second called “The U.S. Department of Arts and Culture.”

The latter isn’t actually a body of the United States government, but in the group’s own words, “the nation’s newest people-powered department, founded on the truth that art and culture are our most powerful and under-tapped resources for social change.”

Screen-Shot-2013-10-17-at-7.27.02-PM-620x386.png

Beck highlighted various individuals affiliated with the organizations, who he described as “the people that will be teaching and influencing your children” through “art and music and film and history books.”

Among the topics the individuals were caught on tape discussing was the fair redistribution of wealth and how “we’re funding the arts through the Cultural Development Fund, which is upwards of $20-some-odd million funding our cultural communities.”

Beck also said Imagining America was created by Bill Clinton, and that its membership now includes roughly 90 universities including Columbia University, Brown University, the University of Chicago, and more.

Many receive funds from the Soros-linked Tides Foundation, Beck added, in addition to various government grants.

“Several of the board members work closely with the government, what a surprise!” Beck remarked. “…So we have the government, radicals, and the universities, and some of their affiliates are actually public officials. They actually hold conferences and presentations about how to re-author American history, and it’s [funded] by you.”

Good lord. I don't know which of your threads are more whacky. This one or your one on Palin. It really shows how way off base you are on how liberals think.

Glenn Beck I really believe is at least borderline retarded. His show on FN was one of those programs where you pop some popcorn and kick back and have a few guffaws of laughter. His fringe rants are so ridiculous that it just baffles me he even still has a platform. Do people really still take him seriously?

Jon Stewart captures him brilliantly.

PolitiFact Georgia roasts pants, brightens lives
Nothing beats a good, warm fire to brighten our lives during these frigid winter days. So last week, AJC PolitiFact Georgia set two pairs of pants ablaze. The first Pants On Fire ruling belonged to TV and radio host Glenn Beck, who compared a real Ohio town to fictional Bedford Falls of the classic holiday movie "It's a Wonderful Life." The second belonged to AMC hit show "The Walking Dead," which blew up Atlanta's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as part of the Zombie Apocalypse. Some pairs survived intact. President Barack Obama did OK and a crime ranking earned a Half True, but the britches of the National Football League Players Association got singed. the left fear Beck because he speaks the truth and the truth is always a threat to the left

if he speaks the truth, as you say he does, then why is he afraid to debate Ed Schultz, Tom Hartmann, or Rachel Maddow one on one in his own venue ... he can pick any republican venue he wants and debate him on any subject of his choice ... if you think we fear him because of his truth telling ...
can you explain that to us TRFjr.

Old time democrats remember the glory days when the only information available to Americans had a left wing political slant. Kids who embrace the liberal democrat line might recall their school days when the only information available to students had a left wing slant. The point is that the radical left which has taken control of the democrat party is at war with the 1st Amendment.

and the nut cases even get nuttier ... there's no such thing as the left wing political slant ... there is how ever facts that you on the right don't like when exposed to the truth

They fear and therefore have the need to mock Beck for the same reason they mock conservative radio and FOX news.

Because they win. The Blaze is growing at a pretty good pace while the left's MSNBC continues shrinking. They are panicking for the same reason they are so upset over talk radio and that ended up in the demise of Air America. In a competition rich environment where people have choices and search out truth and common sense the left can't compete.

Beck has proven there is a huge market for American exceptionalism and idea's based on freedom, truth and common sense. None of the ideals the left brings to the table. They can't compete in that arena and will die off if forced to try.

So yes, they are scared to death of Beck.

oh yeah that's it... we fear him so we have to make fun of him... i can't remember the last tim i feared some one and went up to that person face and mocked them, cause I was afraid of them ... nut cases every where you go these days

You know.......................I don't fear Beck, because he would never deign to come to my neighborhood, nor knock on my door, because I don't have any wealth or clout with the political scene. Because I know he'd never come and visit with me, I have no reason to fear him.

However..........................

If that fucker ever came up and knocked on my door to talk to me? Not only would he never make it past the front door because I don't let people into my house I don't like, but I'd punch him in the nose for being such an idiot and spewing hate that divides this country.

One of my fantasies? Beck (or Limbaugh) knocking on my front door and asking for me to talk to them, and when they said something stupid, punching them in the face and telling them they've got 30 seconds to be off my property before I started to call Castle Doctrine and start shooting.
