The reason W has an "absence" from active GOP politics is that he ran up deficits almost as bad as Barry. Over spending is why the GOP got their asses handed to them in 2008. If you're supposedly a "conservative" then conservatives expect fiscal conservatism from you. When you spend like a liberal then you're not going to looked at fondly. What you progressives don't seem to have grasped yet is that Americans are becoming more conservative and would like the overspending to stop. THAT is what the Tea Party is all about.

Well first I recall no one saying Bush was the second Reagan in fact you are the first person I have heard say that. As for why Bush has not gotten involved in the primaries when he left office he made clear he had no plans to get back involved in politics or stay in the public eye and outside of the brief time to promote Decision Points he has not simply put he is doing what he said he was going to do.
