I can't understand this. Democrats do not protest professional sports teams. Why? In consistency, they would. Here is why.

Rich- Pro sports owners are insanely rich, so are the players. But, they have minimum wage workers doing restroom cleanup, field maintenance, parking attendants, etc. So, at an NFL game, you have a billionaire owner, 53 millionaire players, a 10 millionaire coaches.............then 200-300 low wage people staffing the massive stadium to make the show go on. Why don't they protest this? Probably biggest example of income inequality in all of society. And that is a LOT of money changing hands at NFL, NBA games.

Diversity- Have you seen the rosters of NBA and NFL teams? NO DIVERSITY. Especially in the NBA, but also in the NFL. It's probably the least diverse workplace in all of our society. Yet, the left says nothing about it. Why? These are incredibly high paying, desirable jobs. Why isn't the left demanding a more diverse workforce? Sure, they're performing a physical task, but isn't every blue collar worker? Some computer technicians have more talent for their trade than others, just like a football player may have more talent for his trade. But the left only demands diversity in certain careers.

Capitalist- These sports teams thrive off the millions of common "workers" who spend their hard earned money to watch the games. High priced tickets, high priced food and drinks, high priced t-shirts. The NFL has basically disenfranchised poor people through high ticket costs. A poor family in Chicago can't afford to go to a Bears game. Or a Jets game. Even though tax money partially funded those stadiums. The owners/players are getting rich off the backs of the common man who simply wants to watch a ball game.

So, I hope the left will take to protesting one of the worst offenders of wealth inequality, lack of diversity, and pure capitalist greed: The NFL and NBA. I'll hold my breathe til they do!!

The NFL is a socialist paradise

Why don't Conservatives protest?

It is? Which government is in control of the NFL? As far as I know, every owner, player and employee of the NFL is a private sector worker.

So rightwinger, in a "socialist paradise" you'd have 53 men getting paid over 10 million dollars each to play a game, and have an $8 an hour employee cleaning up their restrooms when they are done?

Hence, why people don't protest. Our tax dollars are not going to prop them up. Except in cases where cities tax their constituents to help build new stadiums.

Which part of your argument has anything to do with politics?

The wealthy owners have revenue sharing, salary caps, a restricted draft where players don't get to negotiate the best offer.

NFL players are entertainers. When you can charge someone $200 a ticket to watch you clean a restroom, you will demand that type of salary

Oh rearry?
Socialism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Socialism is an economic and political theory advocating public or common ownership and cooperative management of the means of production and allocation of resources.
The NFL has no public or common ownership. It's a private organization. You gotta' stop watching Bill Maher.

Plus, if the owners were to "cooperatively manage" the league, they would be guilty of Collusion.

The only argument you liberals have against professional sports are cities being taxed unfairly for sports stadiums. But I can't recall the last time I saw that.

But the left protests a LOT of private companies that aren't propped up by tax dollars. WalMart, for example, has never gotten a government bailout. The left hates WalMart, but tolerates the NFL. Why?

Then why are the left pissed at other rich people? NFL players are no different. All rich people charge a price for their product. The left despises most of them for it. But not athletes and actors. Why? It's inconsistent.

And you still believe it's Ok for these millionaires bathrooms to be cleaned by an $8 an hour employee?

You don't remember Eli Manning saying he wouldn't play for San Diego if they drafted him? Teams trade up and down the draft order all the time to get the players they want and who want to play for them. You just may not hear about it all.

Plus they get free agency after a few years (I don't know how many)

Well, there are only an X number of NFL positions available, in contrast to millions of toilets.

Who says the left hates WalMart? Since we are painting with such broad brushes this morning, I think it is fair to say the "left" is the party of the non-rich. WalMart caters to the non-rich. Why would the left hate WalMart?

Because they feel inferior to the brains that can make it in corp. world at the same time feel that .....I'm sure that I could be a movie star, if I could get out of this place. la la la lalala

What? You're saying there has not been a steady hatred of Wal-Mart coming from the left wing? Thats well known.

And I'd argue the left isn't the party of the non-rich. There are lots of rich actors, athletes, and businessmen who identify as left wingers. They dont' act like left wingers, but identify as that.

Field maintenance, those who change the flooring at arenas and such make very good money, and ,at least here in NYC , those who clean the arenas after events make a decent wage also.

I think that you might want to rethink your argument.

Unless of course you feel ready to argue that the Sport's Unions should abandon all claims to huge benefit salary packages and that the sports franchises should abandon all claims to cushy deals with cities and states for event arenas.

Eli was drafted by the Chargers and the Giants traded Rivers for him

Eli did not have the ability to offer his services to the highest bidder of ALL NFL teams.

It is in that every team gets EQUAL revenue from TV rights regardless of how good their team is or how many fans actuually want to watch their games.
