wouldn't that have been a MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE time to "end the war"......?

When they took OUT OBL they got a treasure trove of intell on who were the underlings they needed to TAKE OUT to solidify the crippling of AQ.
They then took that intel and offed the needed people.
Now the Taliban is decimated.
