Why didn’t Gingrich serve in Vietnam

Until you get the real reason, why not give him the benefit of doubt like you did with Clinton and his draft status?

Meister just so you know the real reason was Newt truly was exempt. By an executive order that Kennedy signed.

Check it out.

President Kennedy set up Executive Order 11119 (signed on September 10, 1963), granting an exemption from conscription for married men between the ages of 19 and 26. President Johnson later rescinded the exemption for married men without children by Executive Order 11241 (signed on August 26, 1965 and going into effect on midnight of that date).

However, married men with children or other dependents and men married before the Executive Order went into effect were still exempt. President Reagan revoked both of them with Executive Order 12553 (signed on February 25, 1986).

How fortunate.

It wasn't a volunteer army. We're talking conscription with parameters.

Hey you wanna take a shit on Kennedy's executive order by all means go right ahead.

President Kennedy thought he was doing the right thing at the time.

Yah, it was meant to be some of the most controversial well-known people. I know people who hid out in caves from the draft. Do you think that I'm stupid? Do you think that this is the I've ever exposed to the Vietnam Culture.

My uncle was part of a covert operation with the CIA until 1968. My father was drafted, but negotiated to get into the Army National Guard in our local unit. His draft number was 69, in the 1969 draft lottery. But if it makes you feel better to ridicule others....bully away.

Well, give us something better. My link is a good starting point.

no link is better than a link like that. it's only there to make one side look bad and the other side look good through half truths. hacks like you are the only ones who would stoop that low, lakhota. :clap2:

Excuse me. You're obviously a wingnut.

Sorry, no excuse for you, you do it willingly.
conservative...yes, wingnut...no

Bill Kristol-I just threw up in my mouth a little. Google-Project for a New American Century; and you'll understand why. He wants to fight those battles....as long as he isn't the one who has to fight them.

Historians are vital from society. See if you dont learn from the past you are doomed to repeat it.

That's why even in tribal communities, they have a historian. Course in oral traditions it's harder to keep accurate history.

Don't you find that a bit odd to be using a link like that? I wouldn't feel comfortable using one from the right that was that biased...I really couldn't trust them and it wouldn't be right to do so. But...that's the difference between a conservative and a wingnut, I guess.

Who served?

# Newt Gingrich – sought graduate school deferment, (too smart to die).

Why did Ron Paul have to serve, he’s much much smarter than Newt Gingrich.

Ron Paul is a doctor and a surgeon, one of the most important persons in any society. Gingrich is a fucking historian, that’s not impressive, it’s much more impressive to be a surgeon as Ron Paul is.

A surgeon as Ron Paul is much more important, needed and skilled compared to a historian as Gingrich. He’s not smart, a historian is not a important person compared to surgeon.

Ron Paul, and small doses of Santorum, are about the only two that I can stomach out of the four of them. Romney doesn't come close to getting under my skin as much as Gingrich. When I look at him, I see a man hungry for power and his own personal agenda. He could give two shits about America.
