Why did the press excuse Ted Kennedy’s abysmal behavior?

"However, as you remember the “liberal lion of the Senate,” just keep in mind the following scene:

It was 1985…Sen. Ted Kennedy and Sen. Chris Dodd were having dinner, along with their dates at the posh Washington eatery known as La Brasserie. At one point, their dates excused themselves, leaving these two party animals to their own devices.

What follows is an excerpt from a 1989 Penthouse article about the waitress who was allegedly assaulted that same evening by the two Senators:

“When she put in an appearance in their private retreat – ‘The Teddy Kennedy Fun Room’ - the Massachusetts senator picked her up and heaved her onto a table. The crystal candlesticks and champagne glasses shattered as he grabbed her again and flung her on top of Dodd.”

“Then Kennedy threw himself on top of the woman. The waitress implored Mr. Kennedy to ‘Get off me!’”

“Another waitress entered to find 'things all tipped over and Kennedy was on top, [the waitress] was in the middle and Dodd was on the bottom.' At that point the sandwich was disassembled.”

While this ugly incident was common knowledge on Capitol Hill, the mainstream press refused to cover it."

Why did the press excuse Ted Kennedy

Besides that's noting like the fucking over Dodd gave to US Taxpayers when he slipped in a provision with no debate to extend government guarantees to insurances companies like AIG

Because it is the SAME kind of press like the Huffington Post that said Mary Jo Kopechne would believe Kennedy killing her was worth it for the sake of his carreer!!!!!

We don't know how much Kennedy was affected by her death, or what she'd have thought about arguably being a catalyst for the most successful Senate career in history. What we don't know, as always, could fill a Metrodome.

Still, ignorance doesn't preclude a right to wonder. So it doesn't automatically make someone (aka, me) a Limbaugh-loving, aerial-wolf-hunting NRA troll for asking what Mary Jo Kopechne would have had to say about Ted's death, and what she'd have thought of the life and career that are being (rightfully) heralded.

Who knows -- maybe she'd feel it was worth it.

What Would Mary Jo Kopechne Have Thought of Ted's Career?

The Mainstream Press is very Liberal/Democrat-leaning. I think that's pretty obvious at this point. Ted Kennedy was a despicable womanizing murderer, yet basically got a free pass from the Press. Do you really think he would have been given that free pass if he were a Republican? Pretty obvious answer huh? He certainly wouldn't have been a U.S. Senator for 40yrs. I hope i helped answer your question. Take care.

Duhhh? Why does the press ignore Democratic, especially prominent, Democratic Party Members misbehavior? Longing for long lost Camelot? Maybe the words Teddy spoke weren't disjointed, disorganized and mispronounced like some other politicians. They weren't disharmonius, grating and jolting to their ears and senses. Maybe its the "Birds of a feather effect". Unmask any Liberal and you'll find a closet pervert underneath.
Then there are the other tales of Kennedy's doings. DOD, since Kennedy was either Chairman or Ranking Member of The Senate Armed Services Committee, had to know where the Senator was almost all the time should DOD need to contact or retrieve him for important Senatorial business. The DOD Liasons had a list of every out of the way bar the Senator frequented. When it was necessary to retrieve the Senator, they found he was usually in the company of his good drinking buddy Christopher Dodd (D-CT) of Dodd-Frank and Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac fiasco fame and usually the two were trying to see who could drink whom under the table first.
Then there was the Mexican, US Consulate affair when Teddy was just a brash young Massachussetts DA. Teddy showed up at the US Consulate in Mexico City asking for a list of Mexico's
most angry young Leftists and Communists and demanding US Consulate officials contact them, arrange meetings with, and provide meeting accomodations to allow Teddy to consult with them. Consulate officals told Teddy he should make his own arrangements and begone. Frustrated, Teddy then made arrangements to rent an entire Mexican bordello for his, his driver's, and his translater's exclusive use.
Shhh! Can't breath a word! The Senator most likely to have a dead female at any time wash up on his doorstep. Teddy Kennedy.

Why does the press ignore Bawney Fwanks affair with a male prostitute? The same homosexual prostitute who later "twurned twicks in Bawney Fwanks vewy wown bwedwoom"?

Adding to the Senator's dossier is the tale from Justice Samuel Alito's Supreme Court Confirmation hearings.
Mrs Alito was a regular in the audience during these proceedings, during which Senator Kennedy would do his routine replay of his performance during the Robert Bork Confirmation hearings with either veiled or full out booming accusations that Justice Alito was a Neanderthal of Judges, a woman killer, a child killer, harbored Heinrich Himmler like feelings toward blacks and minorities. One day during the hearings Senator Kennedy's accusations became particularly vexing for Mrs Alito, who left, running, out of the Senate Hearing Room in tears. Mrs Alito had grown up a few doors removed from where Mary Jo Kopechne had grown up.

'Tuti animali'

I don't know. Why do they excuse David Vitter's behavior? It makes one wonder. By the way, Ted Kennedy is dead. You can give it up now :cuckoo:
