Why Did Obama Give Bin Laden a Muslim Funeral?

Since when is burial at sea a Muslim tradition?

That whole story was nothing but BS. Obama wanted the body gone and gone it was. He used Islamic tradition to say he had to do it quickly. But burial at sea, a desert religion rite, I don't think so.

I thought terrorists were not real Muslims.

Obviously Obama does not believe his own bullshit.

What Muslim funeral? The body was jettisoned at sea so there'd be no "martyr's grave" for people to either honor or vandalize.

Where do you get these stories?

That's the back story. One of three things happened, though, probably.

1. The body was actually buried.
2. The body was cremated.
3. The body is preserved at some government bunker.

But I don't believe they just willy nilly dumped the body at sea for it to wash up somewhere.

Muslim Funeral for Bin Laden Was ‘Smart,' Says Sen. Graham

Muslim Funeral Traditions

Interment

After Salat al-Janazah has been recited, the body should be transported to the cemetery for burial. Traditionally, only men are allowed to be present at the burial, though in some communities all mourners, including women, will be allowed at the gravesite. The grave should be dug perpendicular to the qiblah, and the body should be placed in the grave on its right side, facing the qiblah. Those placing the body into the grave should recite the line “Bismilllah wa ala millati rasulilllah” (“In the name of Allah and in the faith of the Messenger of Allah”). Once the body is in the grave, a layer of wood or stones should be placed on top of the body to prevent direct contact between the body and the soil that will fill the grave. Then each mourner present will place three handfuls of soil into the grave. Once the grave has been filled, a small stone or marker may be placed at the grave so that it is recognizable. However, traditionally, it is prohibited to erect a large monument on the grave or decorate the grave in an elaborate way.

So they deviated on one thing. They still gave him a Muslim funeral per Obama.

In a January 2002 interview with CNN, Pakistan President Gen. Pervez Musharraf said bin Laden had probably died of kidney failure, and that he'd taken two dialysis machines into Afghanistan with him.

“Bin Laden died of disease in 2006” – former CIA agent

Osama Bin Laden cheated the gallows and died five years before US security forces officially announced he was killed, says a former CIA agent, currently living in Turkey.

“I knew Bin Laden’s Chechen guards very well,” Berkan Yashar, himself an ethnic Chechen, told the Russian TV station, Channel One. “Samy, Ayub and Mahmud were with him right to the end. I remember well this date as there were three sixes in it – June 26, 2006. Those three men, as well as two Muslims from London and two from the US saw Bin Laden dead.He was seriously ill before his death. He faded away to skin and bone. The three Chechens washed his body before burying it.”

Yashar also said that on the eve of May 2, when President Obama announced that Bin Laden had been killed, the Americans found only Bin Laden’s grave near the Afghan-Pakistani border and staged an operation.

According to Yashar, US special forces started hunting Bin Laden’s Chechen guards after Bin Laden’s death was first announced at a conference in Washington in November 2008. The last of them, Samy, was taken by the American special forces a few days before Bin Laden was officially pronounced dead. Berkan Yashar believes Samy could have told them the exact place of burial.

Answering why he had decided to speak to the Russian channel, Berkan Yashar said that after all the recent developments he feared for his life.

"Usama bin Laden was given a religious funeral prior to his burial at sea, senior military officials told Fox News.

Religious rites were conducted on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier at about 1:10 a.m. Monday in the Persian Gulf.

In accordance with Islamic practice, bin Laden was washed and wrapped in a white sheet before buried at sea at 2 a.m. local time, senior U.S. military and intelligence officials said."

Not saying that didn't happen, but burial at sea for a desert religion, not likely.

Muslims have had navies for centuries. The Arabs attacked Constantinople by sea and the Ottomans had quite a formidable navy. Burial at sea would have been very common.
