Why did Bush ignore 9/11 warnings?

None of your links show that George Bush was warned that terrorists were going to slam aircraft into buildings. All they say was that Bin Laden was "determined to strike" and that the attacks were "imminent" or "soon". So what was he supposed to do with these vague warnings? Confine everyone of Arab descent until the threat was no longer "imminent"? Declare martial law over the entire country?

Tell us what you would have done if you had received the same vague warnings.

Really kind of sad threads like this one, pathetic also. The liberal left wails that the right is using the needless deaths of our men in Benghazi for political reasons as if they gave a damn. Then what do they do? They do exactly that to which they complained.

9/11 was not a fixed day in history before Muslims flew those planes, but now it is and one would think on every anniversary we would be cautious. We were not, people died and Obama lied.

You figure the Presidents after Bush would have learned a lesson from his mistakes. Naaaaaaaa

OK, from your link...

Khan said his trainers never told him exactly what his terrorist mission in the United States would be. He said he was told he would learn more details from a half dozen other trained terrorists who, he was told, already were in the U.S.
Congress’ 9/11 report confirms that in April, 2000, an unnamed “walk-in” told the FBI he “was to meet five or six persons” — some of them pilots — who would take over a plane and fly to Afghanistan, or blow the plane up.

Now what was George Bush supposed to do with those warnings? Profile every Arab trying to board planes? Place armed sky marshals on every flight in American airspace? Shut down all aircraft operations for an unspecified time period?

They could have worked with this guy. When asked why they did not investigate, an FBI spokesman said that they were investigating but were told by someone higher up in the government to stand down.

Work with him how? The first quote clearly says he didn't know what the mission was.

He would have found out eventually.

How do you know that? What if the "muscle" hijackers were never told that they were going to crash into buildings, and only thought it was to be "normal" hijackings where the plane lands and they just make demands?

It's not what Bush didn't do prior to Sept 11, 2001; It's what Bush did after Sept. 11 which cost more American lives than did the initial attack. Reports that he knew more, true or not, alone does not make the case that the attack could have been prevented. However, as an armchair QB, I'd suggest had he made the investigation of 'chatter' a priority maybe the FBI/CIA/NSA etc. might have learned of the plan and prevented it. Of course that is pure speculation.

What we know is the Twin Towers went down on Bush's watch; the economy tanked on his watch and and more Americans died in the Iraq fiasco then did in the Sept. 11 attack; we know the costs of the Iraq fiasco is thousands of times more costly in terms of treasure than the buildings lost that day and even the right wing Ministry of Truth will never change those facts.

What if what if what if.

This guy was trained and sent to the United States for something. What if they had worked with this guy? The original article that I read in the London Times said that he knew that they were going to hijack planes and use them as bombs. What if this article was correct.

What if Bush forgot about impressing daddy by going into Iraq and paid attention to warnings of domestic attacks?

So, what, exactly, should President Bush have done to prevent 9/11?

Please be specific.

First, Clinton should have launched a retalitory attack on al Queda in Afghanistan before the election for the USS Cole bombing in Oct 2000.

Second Bush should have done the above when he took over as the DoD's investigation was completed earlier in Jan 2001.

Maybe the 9-11 attacks would have happened sooner or maybe not. Hinesight is 20/20.

Revisionists are a funny lot, lost in hindsight, in a world of would-a, could-a, should-a, and what did it teach us, nothing, because if in fact strong retaliatory or precautionary strike was made the media and world opinion would have erupted into a firestorm. Case in point, Israel. So what if your intelligence was flawed, where is the compelling evidence?

Clinton attempted to take out bin Laden and missed by a few minutes.

When did they try to take out UBL. Hell. Madelein Albright stated categorically that they never had an opportunity to kill UBL.

Of course there was proof that they did but they also never acted on it.

Do you have a link??

It's true they did, but they still held off on the plan to arm and support the Northern Alliance and overthrow the al Queda supporting Taliban. That plan was passed on to the Bush Administration as well. It was not implemented untill after 9-11.

They tried to take him out at a hotel, but he had just left.
