Why can't we count?

Are we all mathematically challenged. Why can't we count? The beans counters in most Federal agencies apparently discard accuracy for convenience, We can't actually count the number of unemployed so we guesstimate. We can't count the number of employed either. Why the hell not? How many citizens are in the U.S.? the record of births and deaths is available, the record of naturalized citizens is available, the number of people paying F.I.C.A. taxes is available; can't anyone add and subtract? Or would that reveal the true state of the economy and endanger the thrones of the incumbents? Would such accuracy reveal the extent of illegal immigrants working in the U.S. Would it shed some light on the extent of fraud and stolen identity in the labor force? Would it surprise you to discover 6 year-olds working and paying taxes? Is the government telling us we can't handle the truth?

The same guesswork applies in other areas as well. Josef Stalin; "votes don't win elections, vote counters do". Why do we tolerate and accept a system that discards,"loses", or otherwise negates votes? I spent 35 years in a career that required some degree of accuracy down to parts per quadrillion. That would be the equivalent of one miscounted vote in about a thousand years. Yet we routinely accept election results that discard or ignore as much as 10% of the votes. We never question vote tallies in a given district that exceeds the number of registered voters. We allow voting lists to continue to show voters that died years ago, We accept lists that are rarely purged of the deceased; or that do not remove people that have moved out of the district. We accept a system that allows people to be registered in two or more districts. We joke and say "vote, and vote often". In most cases, we don't even require any proof of identity to vote. How can we expect an honor system to operate in a partisan political battle? ("All fair in Love, War< and Politics". Why do we permit a structure that can be manipulated, twisted, or changed to insure the desired results by partisans. Why do we allow the partisan followers of the candidates to police the polling booth? Do we let the wolf guard the chicken house? Why can't any citizen vote ib real time no matter where they are?Is this just a game or is it serious business?

The same numbers game apply to the U.S. census. We guess at the number of homeless, we guess at the number of illegals, we never tally the final tallies with known facts 9I.E. birth and death records, visas, green cards, etc.). This is just another numbers game we all play to get our piece of the gravy train. We have bought into the myth that there are free lunches and we all must get our share.

All of our elected officials can't add or subtract either. They ignore income (except ours at tax time) and concentrate on spending. They can't balance a budget (they can't even produce a true budget). They keep a double set of books with massive deficit programs hidden off budget and out of the public view. They consistently and deliberately grossly underestimate the cost of any new program, they will not cap aqny "entitlement" programs, and merrily spend, spend, spend. After all, its not their money and besides thet don't have to pay the piper, we do. Their primary interest is not the needs of we the people, it is buying enough votes from we the people to stay in power. They even have the ego and arrogance to claim we can spend our way out of bankruptcy. I suspect an honest accounting of the Federal budget would reveal that 70 or 80% of all spending is to buy votes, secure campaign contributions, paybacks for past, present, and future favors, and meant only to insure re-election of the incumbents. It has literally nothing to do with improving or helping we the people. The dirty little secret is that the government is not obligated to pay the national debt, we are. The government can ignore the unfunded liability it has created; they won't have to meet those obligations, we will. The government never had or will have any money other than what it takes from we the people. We can't even refuse to fund their fun and games, they control the printing presses.

Lincoln proclaimed"You can fool some of the people all the time, and all the people some of the time, but you can not fool all the people all the time:. The current crop of our Public "servants" at all levels of government apparently believe they can fool all the people all of the time. Indeed, so far, they are right! Remember, if you are happy with the way things are, vote (and vote often)! Ironically, the same applies if you are unhappy. What a country. Peace, Love, and Faith. Pappadave

We can't count or read long posts either it seems...but I'm reping you for the hard work..

What was that about? Would utopia follow an accurate count? Of what? Or is this just a verbose whine disguised as a thought?

Here count these stats up. http://www.usmessageboard.com/economy/126288-rich-and-poor-jobs-and-wages.html

PS

The thread above was censored, the mod did not realize the content was a compilation of data from a variety of sources. I will add it at end of thread after I review.

We cannot accurately count the number of unemployed because not every employer (or potential employee) reports to the FEDERAL government.

You cannot tally numbers you don't have.

That was too much for my short attention span, but at least it was divided into paragraphs!
