Why can't people discuss sexuality in a mature manner?

Why's it gotta be a joke or insult when discussing sexuality? Isn't it something we all enjoy and look fowards to?

Studying the historical depiction of sexuality I find myself wondering if the ability to represent sex graphicly and in film showed people all the possibilities, caused some resentment (I wish my sex life was like that.) and over time caused people to attack anyone comfortable with the subject since it only reminds them how lousy their sex lives are?

Is seeing sexuality what causes us to treat it so badly because we see it depicted as something very enjoyable and fun, yet most of our realities don't match up? If porn overall showed actual people, not models and professionals, having mediocre sex, would it be better thought of?

Is there a market for 'bad if realistic sex' porn? :)

We all know what you're into, but anyone interested in you is too busy doing homework and watching The Wiggles to respond.

Check it out sometime if you have cable. History Channel (or maybe it's H2) on occasion runs a program called "The History of Sex", and it's got some pretty interesting things that it talks about.

As far as sex being depicted and people being jealous of what was shown? Ever heard of a book called the Kama Sutra? It depicts just about every kind of sex act you could possibly imagine, and then some, and I've actually seen people freeze up and freak out when they saw it at a friend of mine's house, because they thought it was "pornographic".

As far as the market for "bad if realistic sex porn", check out what the amateurs are doing.

I've seen the History of Sex series. Dunno if it's just here, or native to the series, but thought the various blurs or the images was oxymoronic. :)

Kama Sutra is the Hindu approach to sex. Isn't an all-inclusive description of what's possible. People have died trying those positions. :)

Most 'amateur' porn isn't actually amateurs. 'Homemade' would better describe what you're thinking of seeing. I like that stuff myself because it is much more realistic. The whole lonely housewife in a mansion by the pool seducing a pizza boy is utter crap. :)

Thinking of how sexuality's treated in our past and modern tribal cultures is a good illustration of the perplexing nature of the problem. Watching nostalgia tv channels as I do I see how subjects like teen dating used to be handled however fictionalized. It's hard to imagine our having a modern show involving young teens dating, kissing, and talking about marriage when just a generation ago it was typical. Now it'd have the kids being read the riot act by parents leaping to the very worst possibilities.

Tribal and less developed cultures too are far more sexually advanced that we seem to be. Regarded as a mundane fact of life and something necessary to have a society. Yet in our supposedly so advanced society we act like it's something we should avoid.

I wonder then if all the overt allusions to sex and tililation is having a negative overall effect. If sex is out in the open like it is via advertizing and entertainment, isn't it then going to wind up grating on people's nerves resulting in a backlash against it? Whereas when it is in fact kept private and discreet cultures are much more accpeting of it. Out of sight out of mind like.

What's to discuss? Just fuck and shut up about it.

Frankly, I don't give a rat's ass about anyone's kink.

BTW, I have a nice chess set based upon the Kama Sutra. Great conversation piece.

Actually, one of the reasons that Americans have such a hard time dealing with sexual matters and nudity is because we are a repressed culture due to religion.

Over in Europe? ALL beaches in the Med, and ALL beaches in South America are topless, with a few places you can go full nude.

I remember when we were in Rhodes, Greece and some of the women of the Airdet decided to go native and spend their time on the beach topless. They were spotted by the Airdet LT and he sent them back to the ship, telling them their liberty was over for this port. They then went and talked to the Captain, and he put them back on liberty and chewed the ass of the LT for what he did. The Captain told the LT that since those women were blending in, they were LESS LIKELY to be singled out as American sailors.

Most Americans have a very repressed view of sex because of our culture, and, because of that, it's the reason that the porno industry is so huge here.

Delta, you just want to pull out your dick and jack it whenever the urge strikes. Then when people complain you bitch and moan, claiming that your detractors are "uninformed" or "uptight". This is the common m.o. of certain types of people who I cannot mention because the mods get pissed if I do.

You have got a problem, dude. You are obsessed with sex. Moreover, you are obsessed with legitimizing YOUR feelings about sex. You probably have naked pictures of yourself on your hard drive, don't you?

Oh, by the way, say hello to my friend here...
