I'm gonna lay out some of the brilliance, heroics and political bravery Bush and Cheney displayed from 01-08, and how they actually caused a preemptive defeat of the Dems in the future years. 9-11 was horrendous. Clinton should've killed Bin Laden but didn't. Oh well. Not his fault, no one could fathom those mountain cave dwellers in sheets could pull that off. But he did.

Bush/Cheney knew all hell was out of the bag. They knew the ONLY answer, the right answer, was to strike back and strike back hard. Everyone thought Iraq had WMD's. Even the Iraqi Army's generals thought on the eve of the war they had them. We were wrong, but no one simply lied. But it's fine, the end result is a good one. Afghanistan was a great campaign until Obama had blown it. But thats another thread. Here is the Bush genius though:

He knew this war, if fought correctly, would be horrible. Lots of people would die. The media and American people would turn on it because of how bloody and hard it would be. Mistakes would be made, as in all wars. He knew his presidency would take a political beating as a result. He knew that the end result would be Dem's eventually sweeping Congress and the presidency. But he showed the courage and bravery to push through it anyway. Because it was the right thing to do. Even amid the bad war plans, no WMD's, left wing treason, casualties, and the media jihad against him, they stayed the course. The surge worked. But he knew the country as a result would be taken over by left wing radicals swept in by a war weary nation.

So what did the intelligent Bush admin do? They had the foresight so see the radical lefts duping of the war weary public. So Bush/Cheney had their brilliant plan:

Slash taxes. Balloon spending. Spend massive amounts of money. All while drastically slashing taxes. The economy would boom for a while, but so would the debt rise. He tried to warn everyone about Fannie and Freddie to avoid a massive collapse, but the left ignored that.

The end result? He correctly knew the Dems would sweep into office. But he basically crippled them with this huge debt crisis. Making them nearly powerless to bring in their radical, far left socialist dream agenda. 50 years from now George W. Bush may be seen as a savior of this country, only if Obama doesn't destroy it first.

Now, the Dem's in power can't hardly buy batteries for the government office lamps without getting massive heat from the public for spending. They are basically a castrated government and they can't do but about 10-15% of their socialist utopia dream agenda. Yes, Bush's plan hurt a lot of Americans, but it is the lesser of two evils and he knew it.

We'll likely recover from this. And one day look back and realize that without the foresight of Bush/Cheney to take action to cripple a future Democratic supermajority, we may have ended up like the USSR or Cuba.

But the plan worked. We fought Iraq/Afghanistan the right way, and crippled the Dem's to the point that only 18 months in the first black president's approval ratings are at historic lows. He'll be <35% by winter.

Left wingers, I almost feel sorry for you...............but it appears old Dubya just keeps stickin it to you guys.

Your whole fucking premise is that they were scumbags enough to cripple the economy on-purpose to put one over on the Dems? Seriously?

Who said the right doesn't "do nuance"? The OP's premise is Bush/Cheney were so clever to put politics above national interest that they engineered all their failures in order to gain political points in the end. That they put the interests of the nation, the lives of our service men and women and the economic health of the globe on the back burner just to stick it to the Liberals. And that's brilliant and heroic.

Something tells me that someone has crawled into his daddy's liquor cabinet and let his delusions of what is right and wrong flow through his intoxicated fingers for the edification of all of us.

I think I see what he's saying here.

The Cheney administration (with it's glad-handing front man Bush) being the good soldiers they are willingly sacrificed their own legacies and the careers of their republican colleagues by fucking things up so badly that them dems would be swept into power and shown once and for all for the fools they are.

Very clever!

So in order to save the village he first had to firebomb it?

Well there's more truth to that than one might think.

The NEOCONS have admitted that they planned on destroying the government by bankrupting it.

And their plan is working.

So you may be right.

That'd be one-way to spin ANOTHER management screw-up, by Lil' Dumbya.

MAY 2003

"This economic downturn, quite simply, is the fault of President Bush.

It wasn't his tax cut, as the Democrats claim. The tax cut has not had enough time to have any positive or negative effects it will have.

What caused this economic downturn goes back to when George W. Bush was merely President-elect, waiting to take office, and continued on through his first six months in office.

Repeatedly, President-elect, and then President, Bush talked about how the economy was in trouble. Arriving in office following the longest continuous economic upturn in generations, President Bush seized on a stock market that had faltered some in the uncertainty following the 2000 Presidential election.

The "bad" economy, he talked about. Again and again. The "bad" economy.

You know what happened as a result? I can tell you from my personal experience, the CFO of the corporation I was working for called a meeting and said, "The President keeps talking about the economy being 'bad.' Now, things don't seem bad, but let's just hold off on any new hires until we see how this pans out. And, let's hold off on all non-vital purchases, just for the time being."

And you can see right there how simply the words of President George W. Bush started slamming the breaks of the economy.

This, of course, all snowballed."

Yes, I know. Libs don't want to admit W put one over on them.

The conservatives, one way or another, will return this country and it's citizens to a state of personal responsibility. Where you succeed or fail based on your own virtues, not based on what gov't handouts you are oppressed enough to qualify for.

Starve a cold. Isn't that the old country remedy?

You have to admit. This thread is "hilarious".

Republicans were thinking so far ahead, they sacificed thouslands of American soldiers and cripped tens of thousands to create another Iran.

Then, they worked to deny benefits to these soldiers so in the future, they can go to war against both Iran and the new Iran (which is called Iraq) and they would have plenty of money to pass out in no-bid contracts and make an even bigger fortune.

PolitiFact | Chris Matthews says Cheney got $34 million payday from Halliburton

Halliburton gave Dick Cheney a $34 million payout when he left the company to join the presidential ticket.

So, if you subtract the salary and bonus from the larger amount, voila -- you get $34 million and change. So Matthews is right.

The rich don't get rich by being short sighted, they think deep into the future and test every scenario imaginable.

Even funnier: An self-appointed intellectually superior liberal scolding conservatives......with more spelling errors than a Mississippi SAT.

But, you don't think presidents think ahead about policies they pass during their term? Has anyone thought about why the majority of the healthcare bill's crippling mandates do not begin until AFTER 2012? After all, 2012 is really important so someone....who could it be....who doesn't want the crippling effects of the bill to go into effect before 2012.

Love this thread. This is comedy for both parties. Anybody know what bucs does or what school he went to?

You're right. I forget to use "spellcheck". My bad.

Here is a link to the entire "Health Care" bill you are complaining about (all 2000 pages):

http://docs.house.gov/rules/health/111_ahcaa.pdf

I would be interested to know what part is "bad"?
