Why aren't there multiple threads on the Patriot Act?

The House had another opportunity for progressives to do a little piñata-beating on a bill last night — but curiously, it passed with little note or controversy. The extension of the Patriot Act sailed through the lower chamber with almost no one noticing, following a similarly quiet passage out of the Senate earlier in the week:

The House of Representatives reauthorized the Patriot Act for one year Thursday.

The vote was 315-97 .


Many liberals in the House opposed the controversial act, saying it tramps Constitutional protections and civil liberties.

During George Bush’s term in office, every renewal the Patriot Act became grand theater, with newspapers inveighing against the overreach of Bush and the danger to American liberty in the bill, which wasn’t an entirely vacuous argument. Protesters would fill streets, and reporters would demand positions from various members of Congress. So what happened this year?

The left is in charge now. They don't believe in freedom...which is why most of them still support the PA. It gives them powers they think they'll need in the future. One of them is the right to spy on whomever they want.

Leftists are basically frauds. Just like their supposed "Anti-War" stance,their opposition to the Patriot Act was all about politics and getting the power back. Just positions of political convenience for them. Leftists are more intellectually dishonest than Conservatives for the most part. The same Leftists who used to screech 24/7 about how awful the Patriot Act was,just voted in lock-step to extend it.

I never believe Leftists on anything they say they stand for. It was always all about getting the power back for them. We saw this back when Bill Clinton was bombing several nations and you didn't hear a peep out of all the so-called "Anti-War" Leftists. They're pretty quiet so far on their President dropping the bombs this time around as well. This one went the way of their "Changing the tone of Washington,Hope & Change,Ending corruption,Raising the Debt Limit,and The Nuclear Option." That is the biggest fucking lie I have ever heard. Most of the violations came in the form of weeding out terrorist not the stuff you just mentioned. Perhaps you can find some examples of people being imprisoned for watching anti-Bush stuff. Do you have any?
