Personally I think We, The People should own stock in American Corporations.

The best thing I ever did for my financial self was to start buying and holding dividend-paying stock in American companies that I buy products from.

What if We, The People supported American industries by owning stock in them instead of by granting greasy tax breaks?

I'd rather have my retirement fund in GM stock than in T-bills... Would Social Security be a bit better funded today if Congress had hired some of those nasty bankers to make money for We, The People with it instead of buying T-Bills backed by the full faith of the Chinese VISA Card?

Where do most of corperate profits go to? Top exc's and large shareholders right.
In 1956 when Ike was president, Hugh Corps paid 25% of the fed budget in taxes.
Under Bush in 2002 that had droped to 6% of the total budget being paid by corps.

The average total tax burden for those in the top 5% is 20/22% of thier total incoome.
I can bet that any family of 2 making under 100,000 is paying well over 22% in total tax on their income.

Yeah, I'm impressed with their job creation since the cuts were inacted. If this true where are the jobs?

Corporations are racking up record profits without adding workers.

So where's the incentive for them to hire?

The thesis of my post was not GM as a stock tip - GM was the relevant example that you brought up.

Are you adverse to the idea of government owning dividend paying common stock in American Companies We want to encourage growth in or do you prefer the greasy tax breaks written by lobbyists method of encouraging entrepreneurship in America?

can someone pleas explain how the top winners from the Bush Tax giveaway, who's average gain was something like 70,000 per person per year did with the extra money that we were told would go to creating JOBS.

there are like 1,300,000 people in this group.

there are an average 600,000 new companies started each year of which 2/3's are non employee fronts for tax purpose. That leaves 200,00 new start up's each year.

The average investment in a startup(their own cash is around 80,000).

If we are allowing 1.3 million people 70,000 tax break and only 200,000 of them are creating jobs, what are the other 1.1 million people who we gave 70,000 each year doing with thier GIFT?

The next thing I don't understand is why in the past every time we had a war we raised taxes to pay for the war, as high as 90% tax bracket. But this time we went to war, lowered taxes and borrowed the money to run our country, fight a war and take care of our people who needed help.

Is there something I don't understand here, if so please explain.
