If debt and deficits are the real issue. Why should 99% of Americans sacrifice for the top 1%?

Raise the age of ss recepients - yes
Squeeze the unions (except the ones that support repubs) - yes
Raise gas, cigarette and alcohol taxes - yes
Raise food taxes - yes
Raise the taxes on the rich - no? Huh?

Jeez... you really don't get the concept of equal % burden taxation and equal treatment by government for all, do you????

The top earners already pay the majority of the bill.. the same bill that hands out entitlements to non-contributors...

Like I have said MANY times before... I fully would expect more people to be wary about government spending and expansion if they actually had a stake in the game (the same % stake as everyone else)... it's real easy for the entitlement junkies to vote for 'freebies' when it comes at the expense of everyone else... and real easy for the 'generous' liberals when the generosity actually comes from someone else's pocket

Because they're already taking 80% of the burden.... greedy fucking lefties always want someone else to pay.

perhaps if they got rid of corporate welfare?

if people have 90% of the wealth, maybe 80% of the tax burden is too low.

Why? Why do people always want to take what belongs to others? It's nearly an obsession with the left. Money grabbing is not an attractive quality - in individuals, or groups, or for Governments. Bear in mind, the wealthy move.... if we over burden them, they will simply take their wealth and leave the country. Ask the English.... they'll confirm that. And then what? Who's gonna pay that 80% then? You? Me? You can if you want. I will not.

Because they already pay 80% of all taxes paid.
Because 45% of all "taxpayers" get more back then they pay in.
Because the overwhelming number of Americans are EMPLOYED by "the rich" and taking even more money from them removes money otherwise re-investing in business, research and development, charitable giving etc. etc.

The wealthy are already moving more and more of their money out of the country.....and there is nothing we can do about it.

Other than make it more attractive for them to keep it here.

Everybody in America should pay taxes at the same rate as everybody else. For example: If you make $20,000 a year your tax rate is 5%. If you make 20 million dollars a year your tax rate is 5%. 49% of the people in this country don't pay any income taxes. That means just about half of the tax payers are getting a free ride. Time to anti up - everybody. Did you ever stop to think that if the 49% of the people who pay no taxes could help this country out a lot by just tossing into the pot like everybody else. Time to be a nation of givers instead of takers.

I always have to laugh when the 'tax the rich' meme rolls out, and everyone looks the other way when it is pointed out that the richest people in Congress are almost all Democrats.

When rich people start saying they are going to tax the rich...watch your wallet.

They pay a majority because they earn the majority...but they don't pay an equal amount compared to what they earn.

I thought debt was a big deal? Guess not...

So dems want to tax themselves? How devious!

Public Union Employees are the Rich! Take away their Golden Parachute Retirement & tax the rich once the economy turns.

More class warfare. Wonderful...:eusa_hand:

Against the poor and middle class, yes.

And WHY are they there? Ask yourself that question while trying NOT to blame others.

The answer is simple. Hard work and life choices.

ETA: with Government interference thrown in for the sake of Government's control.

The war is over, Brainiac. The rich won.

Because of Reagan and the two Bushes, the rich were able to transfer $11 trillion dollars of debt on to the backs of the middle class taxpayer.

And that doesn't even include the billions of dollars that they stole on Wall Street with their derivative Ponzi scheme.

And now they are going after the teachers! THE TEACHERS!???

These Republicans are going to burn in hell.
