Why are those who are on governmental assistance seen as lazy?

Maybe you've never attended a "parent orientation" for entering college freshmen, but I remember being told CLEARLY by the University Chancellor that "your 18 yr old is now old enought to MAKE those life decisions. And you as a parent have NO RIGHT to access their records or questions their decisions. It's time to let go...".

Was this college professional pulling my leg?

The point is that the generation that is now reaching adulthood has been told their entire lives that you can't make anything of yourself if you don't go to college. They were bombarded with facts about who makes more money, their teachers were constantly preparing them for college, parents were sacrificing to add to the college fund... EVERYTHING was about going to college. They were told to do whatever they had to do to get there, whether that meant going into debt, working two jobs, saving though high school and whatever else it took. If you didn't go to college, you would be viewed by potential employers as not worthy of even flipping burgers. You would constantly be losing jobs to those that had college experience. I don't understand why people don't realize that this country successfully convinced an entire generation that they would be absolutely worthless without a college degree and then turned around and laughed at them when they ended up tens of thousands of dollars in debt.

What the college bound fell for is that just having a degree isn't good enough. It was never good enough. Degrees are handed out in worthless majors like they come from Cracker Jack boxes, and for all the good they do, they could come from Cracker Jack boxes.

Get a college degree became get a college degree in anything easy to pass. Now they are thousands of dollars in debt and a degree in Wymen's Studies. They have to take jobs flipping burgers because that's all they are qualified for, and in some cases, not even that qualified.

The biggest a users of welfare are corporations but they exist under the protection of the pub pots and the one precenters. Mittens thinks we are all so dumb that we will applaud him saying he plans to "kill Big Bird", which will save next to nothing while he gives even more to his one percent cronies. Typical pubpot sleight of hand lie and, no doubt some will fall for it.

A lot like his lies last night.

Corporations at least produce something and pay employees. La Tasha The Tush produces nothing. Until there's a market for shit, welfare takers should be cut off.

Santorum said high school and Obama said further education, whether it be college or trade school. R politicians say that education is unnecessary and elitist. Hard to imagine anything dumber than that.

High school doesn't prepare anyone for any kind of job that's worth having. If we let the pub pots have their way, the number of jobs that we cannot fill with our own people will continue to grow. We need to be able to compete on the world stage and that means we need to educate our own people.

College or trade school. We cannot let the pubpots continue their rush to the bottom.

Small corporations are mostly middle class owned. Why do you and Obama hate the middle class?

I know because I am one.

But what has that to do with corporate welfare that costs us $billions while the middle class and small business owners do the most hiring.

While pubpots want to raise my taxes, President Obama gave us tax breaks. Doesn't sound like hate me. As I said elsewhere, I dread what a pubpot presidency will likely cost me.

The disconnect between corporations and small business owners is clear in your case, as well as Mr. Obama's.

Tech certifications are pretty cheap. A Cisco cert only costs $200 bucks or so. No life long debt there. Or do you equate "skill" with the amount of money you spend on so-called "education"?

Personally, I don't really care about what some piece of paper says, I'd rather hire someone who can prove their knowledge out in the field. If someone is in debt to a university... well that's a clear sign they haven't a clue of what they are doing with their life.

Either way, folks need to face the facts.
The whole university system is a crock, and a completely outdated crock at that.

Or a sign that they believed what everyone told them. And eighteen is quite a young age to question society. How does someone get life experience before their life has really begun?

No they had to set you up for the brain washing of a life time, but first they had to convince your parents that it was of course for your own good, otherwise when the college said to them that they needed for these parents to let go of their children as you say.

Yes, it was let go alright, except for the money that was needed from those parents, banks and government of course, so it was let go so we can try to manipulate your child without your input, but just keep that money rolling in, thus when we are done, they will say that up is down and down is up or their is no God and Christians are bad people, but scientologist etc. are the best people now, along with every other off the wall characters in which they will have made your children into or associated with, along with their un-holly connections in this nation they have become entangled with afterwards.

There is a growing trend of college students unfortunately applying for governmental assistance since many of these students do not have enough sufficient income to sustain themselves. This is not new as we see many college students across the country applying on welfare. But my main concern is about Romney's 47% as being taker's of assistance I have to ask why do people label welfare recipients as "lazy?" Are we looking at those who don't attain jobs? Are we looking at the fact that its a race issue?

Exactly.

Also, what's the problem with being "givers"? We are the richest nation in the world... and we give all around the world... so why can't we give to our own.

A government mandate to give turns it into something other than giving. Justifying one wrong by another is still wrong.

My parents didn't help me much with college. My father let me live with him, when I wanted, but he was unbalanced and liked to do things like kick me out of the house in the middle of the semester. He helped me with tuition a bit at first but then it dwindled to nothing.

So, I worked all summer, one year I painted a large house by myself. I worked all winter, over spring break doing things like building custom built in cabinets. And I worked during the semester at things like being a telecom network operator where I could do homework when there were no network issues. And I took an extra semester to graduate.

I went to the University of Maryland and double majored in Math & Computer science. I did graduate with a car loan and student loans of about $4K, which I paid off the first year. Yeah, it was hard work. But letting other people pay my bills wasn't an option. Relying on other people to pay ones bills is a bad idea, and a big reason we're in this mess today.

The problem with giving without any expectations of a person taking what was given them, and then using it to turn themselves around in life anymore, has become a major fail in this nation. I ask where has the personal responsibility gone in this nation? When people get a break, it tends to make them more and more dependent these days, instead of more non-dependent and/or empowered by the assistance just as it should be. If I were just given this and given that in my life for free, of course I would be spoiled beyond imagination probably, but I wasn't given anything in life, and thus I had to work for it all, especially after I got married.

Not sure actually about what this nation is dealing with in all of this give away stuff these days, but it sure is messing people up badly and/or spoiling them rotten beyond imagination anymore. They begin to see the message of government as their salvation, instead of the message of Jesus as their salvation.

Government creates dependency these days for ominus reasons, where as Jesus creates inner strength and hope in which creates longevity, integrity, character, compassion and strength in character.

The nation has made government it's god, instead of understanding anymore upon whom the real God is, still is and will be forever and ever amen. Governments come as also they do go, but God is forever and ever amen.

Because Romney said so..

Oh wait..he said he was wrong.

Oh wait..what time is it?

I'm sure Romney's opinion will change any minute now on it.

Remember now, the same charges can be leveled at your canidate as well in life, so why play the bias card as a political strategy, when you should be playing the truth card in order to get the best man for the job going forward.

Funny how people just give Obama a free ride, but want to hold Mitt to the fire on the slightest slip or dis-credit him in anyway that they can.. Why is this do ya reckon? Is it because Obama is still seen as this Junior senator who is fighting to be accepted still in America as it's President (what because he is black?) or is it that Obama is just trying to find his groove maybe again, and so they want to help him get that back, even though it did nothing for them when he had it (did he have it) ?

Does Obama embody every character (good or bad) in his policy making or ideology as a liberal would do in their life ?

I think he does, and it is proven in many of the actions this man has taken or is taking over time, but why is he including the bad with the good ? Is it to keep the numbers strong no matter if he has bad people in those numbers just as long as they represent a vote? Being this kind of person is bad, because it allows the wolves to get closer and closer to the chicken pen/house, where as soon the pen is in danger of being over run by wolves.

Lines have got to be drawn against the empowerment of bad characters in this nation right on and right on, and Obama does this empowering I think (for fear of not being liked by all in this nation), where as he empowers bad character along with the good character equally, in which turns into the opposite of promoting good character as it should be promoted only in this nation. Obama has a socialist idea of promoting character, and that is not how this nation was built or the way in which it should be run.

If I may ask, when was this?

A year at a state college can run more than 20k these days, that's more than you get working full time at minimum wage. And it doesn't include books, health insurance etc.

The option of paying for school as you go has all but disappeared unless you go to a community college (which only offer two year programs), have somewhere to live for free or have a very substantial amount of scholarships. And even then, you'd still have to work full time and go to school full time.
