Why are the French kicking our ass?

psst... the first quote wasn't me. I was unaware of the violence could you elaborate?

if management does not recognize and negociate with labour, liberals with guns come and take the owners to jail.

That is the problem...corporations sustaining our lives paying the worker what they want instead of what they are worth.

imagine if everyone got paid what they wanted rather than what the market wanted??? Econ 101 for you?

What happens when Carolina gets undercut and does move to China? If they moved once for cheaper labor they will move again, the only question is to where.

a company must always go where costs are lowest or a competitor will and they will go bankrupt. Does the liberal want to make it illegal for business to be competitive?? You think like a child it seems to me?
Think about the implications of what you say before you write it down

1) Lets try again, an example of the "Gun" toting liberals taking "owners" to jail. A linnk if you would.

2) The worker has no recourse but to become unemployed if he will not work for minimum wage. If they thought for an instant they could get away with it, they would. imo. Imagine if you had no choice but to get paid what they wanted to pay you.

3) Let them go where the cost is lowest. Let them take their lable with them as well. "Un-American", because that is what they are. They get better than half of the profit pie and want more, workers get less than half and the stockholders get less than half. They want more so they go after the workers portion.

Do you even think about what you are impling before you write it? Are you willing to make Gods out of all businesses, thhose who can do no wrong?

Republicans would rather ruin America than promote a union company.

actually unions ruined America by suicidally driving about 30 million jobs overseas because they care only about those few still left with union jobs.

The most patriotic course is to make unions illegal again so Boeing can concentrate on making the best planes in the world, and not on greedy treasonous union thugs who would have Boeing operate and locate to suit the union thugs, and not suit international competition.

Airbus has union workers.

Hmmmm, Maybe because Airbus is a government subsidized corporation that both the French and German governments have a vested interest in? If Boeing got the sort of subsidies that Airbus does it might just be able to spend all the billions it would need to spend to develop a more fuel efficient jet liner.

Airbus has received plenty of subsidies, to that there is no doubt. However, Boeing also has received many direct and indirect subsidies as well.

Airbus trounces Boeing with another record order

LE BOURGET, France (AP) -- Airbus is trouncing Boeing in the race to be the world's biggest planemaker, claiming over $72 billion dollars worth of orders and commitments at the Paris Air Show, where the popularity of its new fuel-efficient jets twice broke records for the largest order ever.

Airbus' success cast a long shadow over Chicago-based Boeing, which recorded only $22 billion in orders and commitments, and raised questions over the U.S. planemaker's ability to compete in a market dominated by concerns over high fuel prices.

Airbus CEO Tom Enders and AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes signed off Thursday on an $18.5 billion order for 200 of Airbus' new A320neo aircraft, which has proven to be the star of the aviation industry's premier event.

The order is the largest ever, eclipsing the previous record set just Wednesday by another A320neo customer, Asian carrier IndiGo. Airlines often negotiate discounts on large deals.

The recipe to Airbus' gains over Boeing is deceptively simple. It modified its existing workhorse jet, the A320, with improved engines and modified wingtips to make it allegedly 15 percent more fuel-efficient than Boeing's 737.

Higher compensation rates in the united states means the planes from boeing cost more hence the orders going to the place that will build planes for cheaper.

Airbus employees earn more than Boeing employees.

Maybe Airbus has a good product

While there is truth to the fact that Airbus has received much in subsidies over the decades, this is not as big of a factor today. The bottom line is that Airbus is designing better planes. Just as American car companies became lazy in the past, Boeing is now paying the price for their laziness in thinking since they were number one, they didn't have to offer the best product possible.

You have a point in that Boeing outsourced so much of the 777 that they are still having problems getting it to work today. Perhaps if they didn't outsource so much, they could make a better plane? Funny thing, the CEO claims that it's the unions fault and if they didn't have to pay their employees so much they wouldn't have outsourced the work, yet, it has cost them a heck of a lot more so far to fix the problems from the outsourcing than it would have if they'd just had their own workers do it in the first place.

Sheila,

Part of the problem is that production has become so mechanized that a lot of managers that really should know better think that they can hire anyone to do just about any job. It never works out that way in practice, but companies can't seem to resist the tendency to think of employees as if they were interchangeable parts in a machine.

They have good products and this is a reason why this happened yesterday.

American Airlines orders 260 Airbus planes

THE AIRBUS factory in Broughton, Flintshire, has been given a major boost with the news that American Airlines is to buy 260 new aircraft.

It came as the US carrier announced its biggest ever order of 460 planes from Airbus and rival Boeing.

Under the deal, American Airlines will take a mixture of A319s, A320s and A321s, with 130 featuring Airbus’ fuel-efficient new engine option (NEO).

All 260 aircraft will also feature large, fuel-saving wingtip devices known as sharklets, as American moves to make its fleet as efficient as possible.

“We are pleased to add the Airbus single-aisle family as an important component of our fleet modernisation strategy,” said American Airlines President Tom Horton.

“The A320 family of aircraft will help us achieve improved fuel efficiency and other operational savings, while offering our customers state-of-the-art technology and an enhanced travel experience. We look forward to a successful partnership with Airbus.”

Airbus is known for producing and marketing the first commercially viable fly-by-wire airliner in 1990, the Airbus A320, and the world's largest airliner, the A380.

Airbus introduced the use of lighter-weight carbon fibre reinforced plastic on secondary structures such as spoilers, airbrakes and rudder - first in trial on an A300 and then with the A310-200 when it entered service in 1983.

The new A320Neo is an excellent plane and thats the reason why AA shift to Airbus after 40 years with Boeing only.

And that's not bad! European Airlines are using Boeing and Airbus jets.
