I look at this thread that I started and then look to my own personal experiences and its not even close to this. I just met up last night with one of my best friends from highschool - a Jamican. He is stacked guy, but very docile. He worked and put himself through college. He's a family man and is the procurement officer (purchasing agent) for a large corporation in Chicago. He was telling me about another good buddy of mine from highschool (who is black). Back in the day he could fix any fricken car out their. He would buy rust buckets and fix them up nice. The guy was talented. Now he owns 4 auto repair shops and is making a fortune. He doesn't do repairs anymore, he is strictly a business.

Then I look to my best friend at work. He is a Mexican American (although he doesn't speak Spanish) and he is by far the best salesman in my business unit. He could sell sand in the dessert, he is smooth.

But I see this all the time. I see a ton of managers at all businesses I go to that a black. Same with Latino Americans. I get disheartened when I look at statistics, but I see differently in my personal live.

This has been my observation too. At least in America, color of skin, ethnicity, country of origin has little or no effect on those who educate themselves, learn the ropes, believe in themselves, speak well, and assimilate into the mainstream where they can achieve whatever they have ability to achieve. There they support their families and contribute to society in significant ways simply by living their lives and being good citizens.

And when that happens, color of skin, ethnicity, country of origin or whatever is interesting to know about folks, but assumes no more importance than any other interesting things we know about people.

But so long as there are people who demand that we separate people into groups, assign notions of privilege and victimhood, some groups will continue to see themselves as both mistreated and entitled to have somebody else correct that. Such people are invariably angry and that includes violence despite laws providing full equality and the right to pursue any opportunity.

The violent countries are invariably places where human life and human rights are not respected and survival of the fittest rules still reign. As long as the thugs war with each other and can inflict violence without consequence, such countries will be violent.

Give those countries a constitution protecting human rights, free markets, an appetite for liberty, and ability to exploit their own resources, and they will become as peaceful and prosperous as all other countries that have done that.
