Are all US war time Presidents glorified?

Looking at the major memorials in Washington DC, it would appear to be the case. You have the Washington memorial, the Lincoln memorial and the FDR memorial. Then off to the side you have Jefferson, the only major memorial who was not a war time President.

And anytime you ask who were the greatest Presidents, the same war time Presidents, aside from Jefferson, keep popping up at the top of the list.

So what are we to make of this?

One question mark was President Wilson. Where is his grand memorial? Granted, he was a terrible President, so perhaps that is why. He was just that bad. Likewise, Jefferson had a memorial, despite not being a war monger, but he was just that good to over look as one of the best. However, there are areas in Washington DC that pay tribute to Wilson, which is more than the average President obtains.

The short answer is that the winners write the history books. Even though the U.S. sacrificed about half a million of it's brightest and bravest during the bloody 20th century the U.S. is a winner. The media also writes the history books and the media has always favored democrats. Not many people are aware that the media knew about Wilson's stroke and never told the public even during ludicrous sessions when they wheeled him out for press interviews and he never spoke. The media knew that FDR was a virtual dead man when democrats ran him for his 4th term but they kept it secret from the public. The media must have known that Truman's timid handling of MacArthur was a recipe for disaster but they walked away from Korea and called it the "Forgotten War" even though 35,000 to 50,000 Americans died because of Truman's inability or reluctance to control his own general.

Which is more difficult and requires more leadership and sacrifice: Peacetime leadership or Wartime?

The same can be said about leaders who are in power when things are going well versus leaders to take charge when disasters strike.

Which is going to get a more favorable opinion?

But it seems that Dims are in power during the bloodiest modern wars, which include the Korean conflict, Vietnam, which Nixon ended, and WW1 and WW2.

Progressives are war mongers.

But it stands to reason that Progressives are collectivists, and collectivists like large centralized governments with large pots of cash to fund world conquering armies.

It's like the old adage, use it or lose it.
