why ANOTHER Mars rover?

so, from what I see--the reason [ S ] to spend 2.5 Billion$ on another Mars lander are:
1. harmonica is gutless
2. it's in our DNA
!!!???!!
war/murder/rape/etc is in our DNA also

ok, I love space exploration/etc
but, what is the NET GAIN of these Billion $$$ rovers??

also SO WHAT if we find life on another planet??!!! ........????
it's worth 2.5 Billion $ to know that?
