Why America Needs Mitt Romney

I just want to say your name and Avatar kind of make you look like a psycho... Before we even get to the content of your posts.

I think we are supposed to be "scared". You know, he is looking over his gunsight......at us. The supposed enemy of his country. LMAO. Scared of his own countrymen and women.
Weird.

Dunno, I always think "Matt Damon, Bourne Identity, amirite!?"

Why America Needs Mitt Romney

Romney's Steel Skeleton

"The young men in business suits, gingerly picking their way among the millwrights, machinists and pipefitters at Kansas City's Worldwide Grinding Systems steel mill. Gaping up at the cranes that swung 10-foot cast iron buckets through the air. Jumping at the thunder from the melt shop's electric-arc furnace as it turned scrap metal into lava.

"They looked like a bunch of high school kids to me. A bunch of Wall Street preppies," says Jim Linson, an electronics repairman who worked at the plant for 40 years. "They came in, they were in awe."

Apparently they liked what they saw. Soon after, in October 1993, Bain Capital, co-founded by Mitt Romney, became majority shareholder in a steel mill that had been operating since 1888.

Less than a decade later, the mill was padlocked and some 750 people lost their jobs. Workers were denied the severance pay and health insurance they'd been promised, and their pension benefits were cut by as much as $400 a month.

What's more, a federal government insurance agency had to pony up $44 million to bail out the company's underfunded pension plan. Nevertheless, Bain profited on the deal, receiving $12 million on its $8 million initial investment and at least $4.5 million in consulting fees."

Dems distancing themselves from Obama's attack on equity

May 22, 2012 By Rick Moran

It's not just Newark mayor Cory Booker; it's several other business friendly Democrats who can't stomach Obama's attacks on private equity.

"I agree with him, private equity is not a bad thing. Matter of fact, private equity is a good thing in many, many instances," the Democrat said in a separate appearance on MSNBC earlier in the day.

Former Obama administration economic adviser Steven Rattner made similar comments last week, calling a new Obama campaign TV ad attacking Romney's role in the bankruptcy of a Bain-owned steel company "unfair."

Democrats aren't about to purge the likes of Booker, Ford, and Rattner. But that trio, and many more who think like they do in the party, realize you can't kill the golden goose. All those social programs and green schemes need to be funded by tax dollars. And private equity funds the new businesses and business expansion that makes the goose lay eggs.

It will be interesting to see whether Obama thinks the class warfare themes plays better than the pragmatic beliefs of people like Booker and Ford.

More Dems dump on Obama's Bain attack

5/23/12 By Thomas Lifson

Advertising attacking Romney and Bain as vampire capitalists turns out to be latest exploding cigar of the Obama campaign. First, Cory Booker called the ads "disgusting" (likening them to attacks on Rev. Wright) and was forced to publicly humiliate himself with a clarification that merely clarified that the Obama campaign had put enormous pressure on him to laughably claim he was taken out of context. Now a whole host of other prominent Democrats are distancing themselves.

Cameron Joseph of The Hill:

Despite pushback from more than a half-dozen Democrats, the Obama campaign on Tuesday defended how it has scrutinized Romney's business background.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), a widely respected member of Congress, stopped short of criticizing the president, but made it clear that the campaign should pivot.

"It's done," she said. "Go on to other things now."

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) told The Hill, "I think the average American ... hopes that this campaign will focus on competing visions for how to strengthen our economy, help create jobs and move the country forward."

Others withholding their approval include Ed Rendell, former governor of Pennsylvania, Harold Ford, prominent and respected ex-congressman from Memphis, and former Obama car czar Steve Rattner.

Romney's Veep Pick

5/24/12 By J. Robert Smith

Don't expect Mitt Romney to pull a John McCain. A safe bet is that there will be no Sarah Palin-like surprise when Romney announces his running mate. The reason is that Mitt Romney doesn't need a stunner to grab voters' attention or swing the momentum from Barack Obama. President Obama's charisma counts for squat this year. In big ways and small, the 2012 election isn't the 2008 version. Romney's veep pick will reflect that critical difference.

The Daily Beast ran an article in early April stating that the "[c]onventional wisdom says Romney will need a running mate who's not another boring white guy." As is so often the case, the CW is wrong. It's wrong because the media assumes that voters will be as taken with Mr. Obama's smile and style as they were four years ago. Hence, Romney will seek some pizzazz in his veep selection to compensate.

Charisma-obsessed journalists and commentators can't accept that this year's electorate seems willing to look past the sizzle to the steak. A "boring white guy" like Mitt Romney is looking like a better cut of steak to voters than the much-chewed-on Mr. Obama.

I would take him a lot more seriously on this issue if he had either served himself instead of dodging the draft in the 1960's, or if any of his spawn had signed up for the military during the Global War on Terror.

Let's get real here. The thing is, we spend more on the miltiary than the next ten biggest countries combined. And most of them are our allies.

We aren't out there defending America's interests, we are out there defending the interests of Exxon and Wal-Mart to keep the free trade and oil flowing. And the rest of the world is getting a free ride on our taxpayers.
