Democrat, looks like laying off almost 7000 teachers or threatening too. In Mass., a Democrat too, has cut funding and we've lost over 3000 here. No state cops added since 2006, many retired.

What's your state like? Why are Democrats the only ones threatening our teachers, cops and firefighters?

Why do they accuse Republicans?

Is it because they are arrogant and the press won't do their job with a Democrat in office? Why is the truth so elusive?

:)

Phil Bredesen (D) is the Governor of Tennessee.

Former Business Owner, millionaire and backed by a State Constitution, that pesky old piece of parchment, that enumerates a "Balanced Budget."

He is one of only two Dems I have voted for since I got home from LBJ's wonderful adventure in Southeast Asia.

He has been required to make the tough decisions by the Constitution and has had the political courage to do so.

and with this balanced budget, why is it the Democrats always make the cuts that hurt the most? They always protect the high payed hack Democrats, and make the cuts that hurt the people: teachers, cops, and firefighters. I really would like to see part of an auditing team to see how fucked Tennessee is compared to Massachusetts. My guess, same shit as here, overpaid screwed up mess.

You will pay if you cut off my money train people.

Liberal commandment #8

I guess republican governors are better at getting more pork?

so teachers, cops, and firefighters are just "pork" to Democrats.

Thanks for the admission, that was my point actually.

Anyone ever notice when ever Democrats talk about States making cuts to balance their budgets or what ever. They make it sound like the only possible jobs to cut are Fire fighters, Police and Teachers.

It is a political ploy most of the time. A massive majority of State employees are not those things, they are paper pushing bureaucrats. But you never here them talking about cutting those jobs.

Yerp, let's make the lines even longer....

Agreed. From what I can tell since I've been here, Bredesen has done a fine job for the State of Tennessee.

Phil Bredesen is one of few Democrats I have voted for. If the Dums had nominated Bill Richardson as PRes and Bredesen as VP I might have been sorely tempted to pull the lever for them.
But of course the Dems are the party of Fuck You, so we ended up with a raging incompetent socialist.

The next governor is going to be Bill Haslam, a Republican from Knoxville.
