Who would intentionally start a wildfire?

This being a Crusader Frank thread, the answer must be a Marxist, Leninst, Socialist, Commie Liberal of some stripe who believes that FDR was the greatest president of all time.
When you're consistantly correct, you don't need to change your position.

Wildfires in eastern Tennessee kill seven...

Seven people dead in Tennessee wildfire
Wed, 30 Nov 2016 - Wildfires rage in the US South, with the resort city of Gatlinburg, Tennessee suffering much of the damage.
The death toll from the wildfires raging in several southern US states has risen to seven as search-and-rescue operations continue. The resort cities of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee have suffered the majority of the damage. More than four dozen people have been injured by the fire, and hundreds of buildings burned to their foundations. Authorities say the fire is about 10% contained and "could still rear its head". Over 14,000 people have been evacuated, and schools across the region have been closed.

As the flames die down in some areas, other risks to firefighters are becoming a greater threat, Gatlinburg's fire chief says. "A new challenge that the weather is creating for us after the fire is we are experiencing some small mudslides and rock slides because there's no longer that foliage that's holding everything together," Chief Greg Miller said at a press conference. Police raised the death toll to seven on Wednesday afternoon after discovering three more bodies. They did not provide any details regarding the circumstances of the deaths.

Sevier County Mayor Larry Waters told reporters: "We certainly want to pray for those families, the folks involved in the fatalities. We continue to try to identity them. We haven't been able to yet." Officials in Gatlinburg hope to allow residents to return to the town on Friday, but for now the mandatory evacuation order remains in place. Gatlinburg Mayor Mike Werner called for tourists to support the area by coming to visit the region which includes the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and draws more than 11 million people annually. "We're going to be OK - that's our message - we're going to be OK," said Mayor Werner, who lost his own home and business in the blaze. "If you really want to do something for Gatlinburg ... come back and visit us."

Dollywood, the resort owned by country music star Dolly Parton in the mountain town of Pigeon Forge, was largely spared, though the flames licked its doorstep. There is a rain system currently moving through the area, but officials fear that not enough will fall to stem the spread of the fire, which has already burned for several weeks due to drought conditions. In other parts of the US South, severe thunderstorms and tornados have led to five deaths and dozens of injuries.

"BRECKENRIDGE — Authorities are calling two small wildland fires that ignited a few hundred feet away from one another arson, after pages of a book, matches and a can of highly flammable bug spray were discovered at the scene."

Arson suspected in Breck wildfire - UPDATE - OutThereColorado.com

NM and CO are under alert that you can't start campfires for fear of igniting a conflagration and here we have a lunatic intentionally trying to ignite vast areas of wilderness.

What would motivate someone to start a wildfire in the middle of dry season?
A certain kind of insanity. And then there are the two fellows that thought that they could get a job fighting fire down in Southwestern Oregon some years ago. Started a fire, and it quickly became very large. A tanker plane crashed, killing all aboard. A jury of their peers convicted them of manslaughter, justly.

Anytime a fire is started intentionally, and someone dies because of that arson, the least the perp should get is manslaughter. But there are other causes also. One is ignorance. Parking a modern car in high sage or grass, and having the catalytic converter set the sage or grass on fire. Another big one, that borders on arson, is using poor judgement in campfires. I have camped all over the Pacific Northwest and parts of Canada. There have been many times that I simply would not start a campfire because of it being too dry or windy. Last year, the wife and I were on the lower John Day River, and were going to cook lunch on a Coleman stove. Thunderstorms moved in, and, without ever lighting the stove we put it all away. Just too windy and dry for even a Coleman on a picnic table.

However, the last couple of days of fire in Tennessee would have been extreme fire days even without the prior fires perhaps started by humans. The high winds were toppling trees onto power lines, the county sheriff stated that multiple fires were started in that manner.

I really can't imagine someone with so little confidence in their extensive experience camping that they wouldn't light a Coleman stove in a thunderstorm. My guess is the state of Oregon doesn't trust you with matches.

AGW wackaloons start fires all the time so as to blame them on climate change....all you have to do is look to see who jumps out claiming a cause first to see who is responsible.

I can imagine a fuck so dumb that they would post that. Thunderstorms equal high winds. Often with no rain. A Coleman stove on a picnic table is a good sail. A very strong gust, and it is off the table into high grass, and you have a fire that you cannot stop. You are truly the dumbest of fucks, and the kind that should not be allowed into the woods.
