Every political system is not perfect. That is a given. What is significant is, in a given country, how many times the whole structure of a government changes. IOW, how many times, through a comparable period of time, one has revolutions, violent or otherwise. And/or, how many times (given approx the same period of time, or by extrapolating) the changes occur from, say monarchy to even a monarchy....but a radically different type of monarchy, a Parliamentary one, as in England. DC is not a state unless you say "the district of columbia" when you count all fifty states and the last time I checked no one does that. DC is a federal jurisdiction so the federal government has whatever right it has to write whatever laws it wants for that city because DC is not a part of any state jurisdiction.

That would be the beginning of a theocracy not simply writing laws inline with peoples religious morality such as "though shall not murder" or "though shall not steal". Should we repeal those laws because they are creating a theocracy?
Now you may disagree with some laws that are being proposed but they do not violate the first amendment. You are free to repeal them through the democratic process established in our constitution.

You really don't understand the government of the District. It is not quite under local control. The ultimate governmental authority of the District is Congress. The mayor and city council only act out of convenience for Congress. If the mayor and/or city council do anything Congress disagrees with, Congress rules. Congress is comprised of Reps and Senators from ALL states (and some territories).
