Who won the debate and why?

I dvr'd it but Hubby watched it this morning and He told me one thing Newt said that I totally agree with. Unemployment being 99 weeks is enough time to get an Associate's degree . Why not make these people even if we have to help in financing get that degree in another field so they can open up other possibilities on other job opportunities.

Because the GOP considers that SOCIALISM and would never go for that.

No it doesnt.
But we consider it a very expensive idea and one we cant afford.

Sorry for using the broad brush again, Jarhead. While I agree it is a VERY expensive approach. How expensive is continued 8/9/10% unemployment?

Not saying that isnt expensive as well.
But lets be real here.....how many "college grad" jobs are there? And who will do the blue collar work when the jobs become available again?

As a recruiter I hear "I have a degree. No way Im going to be someones receptionist" all the time.

I know that here in New York, those on unemployment can enroll in medical coding courses at the expense of the tax payer. Problem they have been having is getting people to do it...no joke. Classes get booked up....but no show rate for classes is absurdly high. Not becuase people are lazy or uininterested....but there is a very strange phenonmenon going on here in NY...

Many on unemployment are getting off the books jobs...day care for employed friends....light construction like taping and painting.....

It is great for them....400 a week unemployment plus anouther 400 a week off the books....I dont blame them for doing it.

But we are also seeing day care centers going under as a result....you know....friend does it for 10 an hour while the day care center charges 20 an hour.

Another one who admits that he will be an uninformed voter.

Go ahead Article 15....have fun with it...I can take it.

lol ... I'm a lot of things, an uninformed voter isn't one of them.

your boy had one hell of a game last week.

Tebow?

He was awesome!

Yeah, Brady and Gronk were incredible and I believe Brady is also leading the league in postseason net punting average so far this year :D

It only gets tougher now. I'm pulling for a 49ers win if we manage to get by Baltimore.

The Giants have me spooked. They scare the bejesus out of me.

As an employer of mostly blue collar workers, I look for college credentials regularly. Someone who has what it takes to get an education tells me something about their possible work ethic. It's important to me.

Been a Giants fan since before the Eagles beat us when we were killing the clock.
I watched them gel these last 4 games like I have never seen a team gel before...scary stuff. Having two healthy pass rushers like we have helps the cause.

Yeah.....a quick kick...I mean...dam....last time I saw one of those was Syracuse playing Penn State back in the late seventies.

I dont disagree...

But if they are a recent grad, they are likely to get frustrated and want upward mobility quickly....and I am sure it results in a slighltly hiogher than preferred turnover rate.

Not too many college grads believe it was worth 100K in education to turn a lathe.

I agree. I am struggling with the "younger generation" trying to find kids who actually want to turn wrenches these days. However, I still believe a college education is something to strive for, and it is becoming less and less of a possibility for middle class kids these days.

Having Gronk and Hernandez should help counter that pass rush but Eli's receiving corps is pretty ridic and you got a two headed monster in the backfield too.

If the rematch happens it's even money, IMO.

There will be no chest thumping or bold predictions from me leading up to that game.

I will prolly chew my lip and fingernails off during those two weeks.

If you think Paul 'won' that debate, you went in to it with a predetermined outcome

He either sounded like a pre-scripted buffoon who had to get jis brain to click in to remember the points properly... or an illogical ranter toned down by pain killers

I agree. Paul had to have had one of his worst nights at a debate. He rambled on, didn't give specifics and sounded like a worn out old man.

Romney had a real bad night too. He stuttered and stammered, looked nervous, beat around the bush and had a real hard time answering some questions. He looked like your typical money bags insider trying real hard to look and sound like he isn't. I don't like him, at all.

Perry had a good night and so did Newt, who in my opinion won the debate. Pollster Frank Luntz said that in his 16 years of following debates, the very first "standing ovation" he's ever seen was for Gingrich last night.

I agree with what you say. You are the only one who has mentioned the stuttering and stammering of Romney during these debates. I've noticed it as well. Makes me wonder about his calmness under a real emergency.

Paul, was just Paul. Rambling on and falling short.

Still believe the coronation of nomination should not be guaranteed so early in the game. What do the other states think?

Really was not one of Pauls best performances. In his own defense it is easy to get twisted searching for words when your having an intelligent conversation and trying to bring more to the table the slogans and sound bytes.

In the end I put it to a tie between Paul/Newt. I wish Newt wasnt the moral midget he is because he can bring the hammer down.

I like Paul but his delivery in these debates sometimes isn't the best.
He needs to talk more calm and be concise. It's going to be hard to win over people if you are just up there ranting, especially if the media is calling you crazy. I've seen him have good debate performances but last night wasn't it for me.

At the same time, these mods ask him the same nonsense continuously. I'd like to see him get some new questions. Of course, they know he is going to go off on his foreign policy, which is why they do it.

They were setting him up with questions that lead to his most controversial stances. They were trying to highlight his differences. What they don't realize is that is what appeals to many people

1# Ron Paul-everything was out of the park, but the race one. IF YOU DO A CRIME YOU SHOULD SERVE YOUR TIME. If blacks don't respect the law and break it, who's fault is it? Not whiteys or anyone besides them. That is called being treated equally. Honest to goodnest to let a group off light would promote only bad and more crime...Lets not ask to be treated better.

Paul's point is not "blacks don't respect the law" (which I'm sure that's what you'd love it to be). His point is FIRST that the law in question (prohibition) is both a.) unconstitutional and b.) disproportionately effects African Americans. He wants to free all prisoners who were imprisoned because of this law that he views as unconstitutional. Not just blacks. He simply makes the point that African Americans are more likely to be effected by the law because the drug most used by that demographic is targeted more vigorously, (insert your reason for this here).

Paul's not saying we should be "easy on law breaking blacks". That's a laughable assertion at best. He's just point out that his policy does largely effect African Americans in prison for non-violent crimes. I don't condone smoking weed or law breaking period, but I recognize the unconstitutionality of prohibition. Of course for somebody who just doesn't like black people it'd probably suck to see them freed out of prison no matter what the case, so I'll just leave this alone.

Nope, can't say that yet. As much as you liberals would love to see that waffling moderate in the White House, he's not the republican candidate yet.

If he wins South Carolina by the 10 points RCP has him up by, he most certainly will be.

The only way that someone stops Mitt at this point is if they can convince the two Ricks to drop out and endorse Newt. The way Newt's been going after Santorum, and vice versa, I don't see that happening. And I expect Perry will drop by Monday and back Romney.

If Newt and Santorum both continue on to Florida, it's game over. Romney is the nominee.

In the general I'd still give the edge to Obama as the run back to the center to pick up the Moderates is going to be tough after everything that's been said in the debates so far.

You think these guys don't all come in with scripts? What the fuck do you think they pay their advisers for?

It's politics. It's suicide to go it alone.
