I have a better idea.

Let's give Mike Tomlin to the Browns and have Bill Cowher come back and coach the Steelers!

Yeah Bill Cowher would be an EXCELLENT choice to be the new coach but the problem is,he looks like he is in the same boat of another great coach i said would be great for the browns if the browns owner could flash enough money and lure him out of retirement.Mike Holmgren.

I made a thread saying i thought the browns were headed in the right direction of FINALLY being a playoff contender again for the first time since the marty shottenheimer era but the one they needed was a new good coach,I knew from watching the rams play the browns this year, the browns had a lousy coach and he needed to go. when you lead the league in penaltys as the browns did,,that is a reflection on the coach so i am glad they got rid of kichens, best move ever.:2up:

I am with you.The browns have been so horrible for so long, they cant afford to keep taking chances on no name coachs like kitchens anymore, they need to do what the chiefs did a few years back when they went after a proven head coach in Andy Reid.

Thats why I suggested Holmgren. It seems to me the browns owner is cheap cause if he flashed that much money in front of holmgren,I guarantee he would come out retirement in a heartbeat.

yeah I love the choice of Cowher as well i just dont see it happening though cause he retired from coaching because his wife died.you can bet many other owners have asked him to come back over the years ,but the reason he hasnt and taken the money is he obviously cant get back into coaching again it seems because of his wife. cant blame him, that sort of thing can really mess a person up and coaching is a difficult thing in football so i dont see him doing that.Losing your wife you dearly love, can really mess up your mind and outlook on life.

that is WHY i dont get it why they dont go after Holmgren,HIS wife didnt die.

holmgren would also be a good coaching choice b ut I have some thing inside me that sais Cowher would do it with a good offer, not so much about money but he loves cleveland and the blue collar attitude there. Are there any more loyal fans in the world? I want Bill, he is the guy that can fix this.

Baylor head football coach, Matt Ruhle refused to be interviewed for the Browns coaching job.

This I disagree.

considering who posted it,i cant believe you actually took the time to read the post. I agree with you that Cowher would be an excellent choice and he can fix it,I would like to see him become their coach as well but we can forget about him coming out of retirement. His wife dying made him see the world differently. you just know many other teams have contacted him over the years and the fact he has told them all a resounding no,i think he has made it clear he is done with football.

Two great choices if they could not land cowher again are Mike Holmgren and Bill Parcells. Parcells looks like he is done and not coming out retirement either, just wants to enjoy life right now. I agree with you that the Browns NEED to go after Cowher or Holmgren,i would take either one of those in a heartbeat. as i said, they need to go after a proven head coach like the chiefs did with Andy Reid.

If the Browns keep trying to build with an unproven coach like kithens, they will go nowhere. Chiefs owner Clark Hunt realised that and took a hands on role in hiring Reid when his GM managers could not get the job done previously before him. thats what the Browns need to do,hiring all these unproven coachs like Kitchens will get them nowhere.

After being an organization that has earned being given the nickname the cleveland clowns for so long, they need a proven coach, you dig deep enough into your pockets, the Browns owner will be able to lure Cowher or Holmgren out of retirement. I would take either of those guys in a heartbeat. If they go after another unproven coach again,it will be the same old story over and over again.

you know a couple other good choices we havent talked about that if the browns could not get holmgren or cowher, then the next best choice to try and get another former coach out of retirement would be jimmy johnson. but like the holmgren, cowher, and parcells,i dont see that happening either for the same reason, that if they wanted to do it again, someone would have snatched them by now. dck vermeil would be another one but same thing as well.

that leaves the only REALISTIC option left of someone they COULD get since none of those coachs seem to be able to be lured out of retirement.

jason garret, that would be a GREAT fit for him and more importantly, for mayfield.
