The US invented rock and roll but the UK refined it into a respected art form.

did they invent it not sure about that. I know its hard to pin down and its hard to define between rhythm and blues to rock, apart from one thing distorted guitars. For instance I would call the rolling stones an r&b band not rock, but The Who are rock.

I hope I don't sound bias but I think US give a new meaning to rock songs.
