Warhead Discoveries Worry Neighbors Officials Say Three-Pound Bombs Could Still Be Live ARLINGTON, Texas -- The first stages of a warhead removal plan are under way in a suburban south Arlington neighborhood that once served as a military bombing range. Neighbors say they didn't know that their homes were built on top of an old military bombing range until residents began periodically unearthing warheads. "If we had known before, we wouldn't have built," resident Ken Jones said. "But we're here now, so we've got to roll with the punches." The site was used for bombing practice during the 1940s, but untold numbers of bombs remain buried about the neighborhood. The three-pound bombs, or shells, could still be live, according to government officials. That possibility is keeping neighbors on edge. "It's a worry knowing that we could have bombs in the bottom of our homes," Sonia Cuniga said.
