After the charges of sexual assault and sexual harassment by progressive PR guru Trevor FitzGibbon went public after the women working for his firm had enough, the progressive firms that had made FitzGibbon into a key figure in the left's political organizational world struggled to distance themselves from.

MoveOn, which had helped Trevor FitzGibbon get started, issued their statement. As did NARAL, which put out a curt press release stating, "These kinds of actions are antithetical to our values and to a just and equal society."

In time, other organization which claim to be concerned about sexual violence against women, including Eve Ensler's VDAY and Planned Parenthood, may get around to also disavowing their alleged PR rapist.

They will all pretend that this comes as a shock to them. But there are two problems with that defense.

During his prior employment at Fenton Communications, a major PR firm, a female colleague accused him of sexual harassment, Bill Werde, Fenton’s current CEO, confirmed to The Huffington Post on Thursday night.

So Trevor FitzGibbon had a history of problematic behavior with women. The upper spheres of the political left are a narrow privileged world. It's doubtful that no one knew about it. And there's one more problem. His own organization proudly listed Julian Assange, the Wikileaks fugitive rapist, as one of its clients.

Not only had Trevor FitzGibbon allegedly engaged in sexual assaults, but female staffers had to be part of an organization representing a rapist.
