So who did you vote for? Bob Barr? :cuckoo:

Ron Paul. He was on our ballot in this State. Beats Obammy or John "Feingold,Leiberman,Kennedy, bombbomb bomb Iran, cap andtrade, my friends" McCainut, that's for sure.:cuckoo:

Too bad Ron Paul's message of truth doesn't cut the mustard in the GOP. You saw how the GOP and Corporate media treated him when he spoke out. Did you see him on Glen Beck? It was before Beck went to Fox. Ron Paul was talking facts and Beck was rolling his eyes as if Ron Paul was crazy.

And I think when Ron Paul says smaller government, he doesn't mean impotent government like the GOP mean. But I do worry about the libertarians message of Every man for himself.

Do I like Democratic spending? Not all of it. But I also would not like to see Ron Paul cut social programs I agree with. But he probably would clean up our financial mess. So I might vote for him and give him 4 years.

So right now, Obama is the best choice for Prez, IMO. I LOVE HIM!!!!

I was simply explaining to the poster I quoted how I understood being caught between a rock and a hard place. Personally, I'm convinced the GOP's support of liberal internationalism in regards to foreign policy did them in, not the spending so much, that was happening in 04 when they were still winning elections but by 06, the polls had turned against the war in Iraq, that's the main reason I went 3rd party for the first time in my life concerning President.

I see Obama making a lot of changes I certainly approve of. In April you will start seeing more money on your paycheck. He found UBS was helping the richest Americans swindle the US Government out of billions of dollars.

More money on my paycheck doesn't mean much to me. That little bit of tax savings doesn't change much. Imagine the tax savings we COULD have if the government would eliminate all the programs that are funding those that don't work.

Regulations being put back into place.

This occurred years ago. Don't give credit to Obama. The SEC and FASB, along with accountants in general, have been enforcing regulations on their own. We didn't need the government to tell us to do it.

This is one area I agree with Obama on, and his appointment of Hillary was the first and so far only thing he's done that I really approve it.

Dude, America is back!

To what?

But you won't even be happy if Obama has a balanced budget by 2013. Will you? Let's make a bet now. Will you apologize if he accomplishes that?

I will be glad if the budget is balanced, but at what cost? Like I said, the budget would be easy to balance if they didn't spend so much. I don't even mind the high tax rates, if the money collected was used to actually pay off the debt. Instead, we're using it to fund pet projects and subsidize every aspect of human life. If we raised taxes for a few years, eliminated unnecessary spending, and paid off the debt, we could lower taxes even more for all taxpayers, not just the rich OR poor.

I remember a broke ass friend of mine said in 2004, "i'm voting for Bush", and I said why? He said, "because he gave me $200 per child tax break last year. I said, $400 is all it took to buy you? And he said, "dude, that's more than Clinton ever gave me".

Hey, an extra $50 a month will help if gas ever goes back up. And I'd rather we all get $50 a month than the rich getting a tax break that we don't get. Spread the wealth baby!!!! And we will put that money back into the economy. The rich didn't. They sent it to UBS Switzerland.

Also, I don't think I would cut out as many social programs as you would. I'm more liberal than you. So of course you aren't going to be happy with Obama's spending.

Just like I didn't like Bush doubling the debt, even if it was in the name of DEFENSE.

If only it were that simple. If we tax the rich, they raise the cost of goods. The tax burden still lies with us. Implicit taxes are a bitch. Which is why I support cutting spending to reduce EVERYONE's tax liabilities. That's more money in everyone's pockets, AND the rich don't have to raise the cost of goods to make up for the lost income from taxes. Sadly, they'll probably still raise the costs because more people will have more cash. It's a never-ending cycle. There is no "ideal" tax rate, unfortunately.

Also, I don't think I would cut out as many social programs as you would. I'm more liberal than you. So of course you aren't going to be happy with Obama's spending.

I don't see socialism as liberalism. They aren't mutually exclusive, but they certainly aren't synonymous.

Nor did I.
