Actually you are correct, it is a bad idea. We need to close the border, deport, and give some a path to citizenship.

So how are we supposed to seal a border that is among the longest in the world with much of it remote from populated areas? And if we did, would it be worth it compared to other solutions? Answer, no.

You are kidding, right? One way to get rid of the homeless is firing squad also. Let me guess, you're all for that too, right? After all, apparently economics is the only yardstick by which anything is measured and they contribute nothing to society economically.
