Michael Savage brought up this good question on his show today. James Baker has connections with Saudi Arabia because his firm, Baker Botts, is defending the Saudis in a post 9-11 lawsuit for like a trillion dollars. James Baker is a senior member of Baker Botts. Savage also said GWB worked for Botts when he was young and in the mailroom. Then there's the Carlyle connection. Baker is of course a lobbyist for the oil industry and has an office in the White House.

Exactly who's interests are really being served by this Iraq panel with James Baker heading it up? :wtf:

Certainly not Americas'. This whole Iraq panel thing stinks to high heaven. This message board could have strung together a bunch of suggestions and done just as well. I hope someone has some time to waste to find out what's really motivating the bozos.
What do you know---thier collection of ideas is a best seller already.

And just look at exactly what those suggestions were:

The Way Forward—A New Approach

A verifiable cessation of arms shipments from or transiting through Syria for Hamas and other radical Palestinian groups.

A Syrian commitment to help obtain from Hamas an acknowledgment of Israel’s right to exist.

Greater Syrian efforts to seal its border with Iraq.

RECOMMENDATION 16: In exchange for these actions and in the context of a full and secure peace agreement, the Israelis should return the Golan Heights, with a U.S. security guaran- tee for Israel that could include an international force on the border, including U.S. troops if requested by both parties.

RECOMMENDATION 17: Concerning the Palestinian issue, elements of that negotiated peace should include:

Adherence to UN Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338 and to the principle of land for peace, which are the only bases for achieving peace.

Strong support for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority to take the lead in preparing the way for negotiations with Israel.

A major effort to move from the current hostilities by consolidating the cease-fire reached between the Palestinians and the Israelis in November 2006.

Support for a Palestinian national unity government.

Land for peace didn't work out so well in Gaza, but that's all Baker really proposes here. And it's not exactly as if Syria can OR will influence Hamas to "help" the outlaw Zionist state, or that Abu Mazen actually CARES for "peace".

This should be a blueprint of what NOT to do in the Middle East.

Just what I was thinking on the other thread...Israel is the only ticket we have for negotiations. Liberals don't care, they are really anti-semite anyway, except when Mel Gibson mouths off.
