Go ahead dude. There are income limits used to determine who qualifies for SNAP. True story. All you reputs have to do is change those numbers. Lets say to 10k. Anyone making more than 10k a year, no SNAP for them.

But as to the topic. Why can't or won't the Repubs in Congress reduce the qualifying income amounts to reduce the numbers of people who can qualify for SNAP. And it is food stamps that was the topic. Not welfare. And there are many many more working people receiving SNAP than there are welfare recipients.

(he is a "pretend" Republican by todays standards) But I would probably vote for him for Pres. He embraced Omamacare. And loves the auto industry. And manufacturing.

It seems to be those that vote for Republicans who have had the wool pulled over their eyes.

Take for instance Omamacare. How many people voted for a Republican who promised to get rid of Omamacare and will still vote for a Republican even though they failed repeatedly at what they promised to do? Why wouldn't those people vote for a different Republican? 93% of our Congresscritters get re elected. How does that happen when so many flat out lie about what they will and can do?

That's not possible. You have to remember the political motives. There is every motivation to not clean up fraud, and none to.

First, if the welfare system has extra money, that is not spent, politicians will quickly move to cut spending, because obviously if they didn't spend it, then they don't need it. The people in those agencies, know this. They have every reason to spend as much as they possibly can, and zero motivation to prevent fraud, to avoid having their agency cut.

Second, in the off chance they happen to accidentally cut one person, just one, who actually was not engaged in fraud, that individual will run to the media, and have it splashed all over the headlines. No matter who is in office when this happens, the minority party will skewer them over this issue. If it's Democrats, the Republicans will scream "Look! They are accusing innocent people of fraud, and kicking them off welfare", and if Republicans, then Democrats will.

So both the agency, and the politicians above the agency, have absolutely no reason whatsoever, to cut fraud, and every reason to continue the fraud.

The only solution, is to do what we did back in the 1990s, and just flat out cut the program, and kick people off welfare. They'll go find jobs, and the economy will improve, just like it did in the 90s.

Some states have more benefits than the USDA, but at the very minimum, a person can earn a tad over $18,000 a year, and still get SNAP, just by themselves. Household of ONE.

With two kids, a person can earn a bit over $30K a year, and still collect SNAP.

With FOUR kids, a person can earn over $43K a year, and collect SNAP.

And by the way, you can own a home, and a car, and the value of both is excluded. So you can have a Porsche, and a $200K home, and still collect food stamps.
