There is an old story of a manager of a baseball team being asked by reporters who lost the game for them. His answer.

"No ONE man lost this game, everyone did thier part to make sure it happened. It was a real team effort"

Both parties and Bush started it. Obama is making it worse.

I will volunteer my time for whatever my local party needs come election time. I will also donate whatever I can afford to give after Obama is done digging in my wallet.

This is the culmination of twenty years of screwheads in dc. We're now at the precipice of the cliff.....and leaning forward.
Actually, it has been over a century.

The progressive era pretty much started with the presidency of the original neocon: Teddy Roosevelt.

We never really heard much about a budget crisis until the Democrats took over the Congress and Presidency. Until then debt and deficit as a percentage of GDP were fairly in check. Since Obama took office spending has grown while the recession has made receipts fall. His policies made both of those worse.
Now the GOP is trying to claw back some semblence of discipline. And Obama can only offer cuts 10 and 12 years down the road and empty finger wagging.

That's true. I think the creation of the fed was another milestone in our decline too.

American ignorance and apathy.

My America is hardly a place of freedom, rock n roll, and liberal media. My America is a shallow remnant of what could be.

It was only a matter of time before the Ponzi scam that is the Federal Reserve came to a head.

Boiking's chief problems are the he's pouring more gasoline into the Molotov cocktail, too ignorant to recognize it, and too arrogant to have anybody but ass-kissing yesbois surrounding him.

Unbelievable. There is no awakening you people to reality is there. You are lieing if you say you are an independent and blame republicans. I don't hold them completely blameless but how you can not first blame the party (the dems) that doesn't know how to not spend is beyond rational comprehension . The party that ALWAYS says government needs more money and NEVER advocates reducing the size of government?

I blame the party of government. They set the new baseline for spending since '06 and that is what will drive US over the cliff, not those who would pull us back from the brink; a brave choice for them to take. On the other hand to force this irresponsible policy of always increasing spending for new programs to curry favor to bribe ever more new and vested constituencies with always more new programs is a gutless choice.

Two thirds of the American public do not want the debt limit raised; they understand that current revenues will pay the current debt service. They also know that stopping this runaway govt. spending right now may very well save US from becoming the Greece of the west, and this may well be our last chance to stop this runaway government.

Second!!

Bush created the snowball. Obama and Pelosi thought it would be fun to push it downhill and take out the Nation.

I've started my researching of the candidates and their records. I plan to contact them directly with specific questions that will require specific answers in order to win my support.

Seems that the modern definition of "Independent" is: I'm ashamed to say I'm a Republican.

Ron Paul is the closest thing to a real libertarian in our govt and most libertarians would choke on his view of not using the military as a world police force or as nation building.
Ohh wait they were against that when Clowntoon was pres and are again now that Obama is pres. silly me.
