Who calls Rush a GOP 'icon' more?

Who calls Rush Limbaugh a GOP 'Icon' or the 'Head of the GOP more?

The 1995 GOP Congress made Limbaugh an honorary member in gratitude for his help getting them elected.

Are you now claiming that the Right has thrown Limbaugh under the bus?

Who constantly brings up the size of Rush's audience? The scope of his success? The left or the right?

Face, he's not just an asshole; he's your asshole.

I claimed nothing of the kind. I simply claimed that the left calls the fat blowhard the 'head' of the GOP and a GOP 'icon' far more than the right.

Please find for me a thread that was started by someone on the right touting the size of the fat ones audience... or how many sponsors he has... or his ratings... etc. etc. etc. THEN, compare that to the number of threads started by someone on the left, where someone on the right responded with mention of the fat ones ratings, audience size, market share, etc etc etc.

BTW... it was the freshman Republican class who awarded Limbaugh an honorary membership in their caucus. It was not the entire Congress making him an honorary member. But hey, feel free to blow things out of proportion if it bolsters your case.

As Jesus said,

Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times...
that's the best you have? Pity. I expected something more... creative, from you.

Conservatives, myself included. However, we do it to mock the Democrats and Obama supporters. Liberals who claim Rush is the 'leader' of the GOP, or a GOP 'icon', actually believe it.

Don't worry...we believe it in a very mocking way though...

You can honestly sit there and say that the left doesn't 'really' believe that Limbaugh runs the GOP? Really? I think TM has competition for biggest 'lair' on the board.

Wow...loading the liar cannon. I'm frightened.

No, "the left" doesn't believe that the drug addled gasbag "runs the GOP"...but they KNOW he certainly has great influence over it. I just can't see a democrat bowing and scraping over Thom Hartman or Ed Shultz, but many of the GOP reps do just that over Limbaugh.

We've seen GOP reps speak out against the Viagra soaked talking head...and then apologize to him a day later.

And where is Mr. Steele now?

EDIT:

Oh, and from your own link...

Limbaugh said: “I'm not in charge of the Republican Party, and I don't want to be. I would be embarrassed to say that I'm in charge of the Republican Party in the sad-sack state that it's in. If I were chairman of the Republican Party, given the state that it's in, I would quit. I might get out the hari-kari knife because I would have presided over a failure that is embarrassing to the Republicans and conservatives who have supported it and invested in it all these years.”

McCain: Limbaugh comments "totally unacceptable" - CBS News
Sen. John McCain added his voice to those of other top Republicans who have criticized conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh for calling a Georgetown student who advocated for insurance coverage of contraception for health and family planning reasons a "slut" and a "prostitute."

Appearing on "CBS This Morning," McCain acknowledged that Limbaugh continues to have influence within the Republican Party, but that his statements "were unacceptable in every way and should be condemned by everyone, no matter what their political leanings are."
Ron Paul said Limbaugh's apology "was not sincere," and that he made the apology "because some people were taking their advertisements off of his program. It was his bottom line he was concerned about."

Is McCain a LIBERAL?

perhaps the point of that post sailed over your head. let me explain...

It was in response to the claims that no one on the GOP side was condemning the great white whale for his comments.

Simple question folks... who calls Rush Limbaugh a GOP 'icon' or the 'Head' of the GOP more?

Liberals, or Conservatives.

EDIT:

OH, and if you vote, please post some examples of your choice.

I voted LIBERALS, and here's my example.

RUSH: Wait a minute. Why don't you blame Steele? I mean, the whole point of the RNC is fundraising. The RNC chairman is not a media star and he's not a pundit. He's supposed to be a fundraiser. He doesn't speak to policy and so forth. He's not technically or even in theory the leader of the party. That's me.

My, my, look at the 'Conservatives' throwing the ol' obese junkie under the bus.

Ain't it great. Noticed that they have been doing the same thing to Bush.. Gotta love it when the right wingers eat their own.

If you want an example of Liberals treating Rush as the leader of the Conservative movement, you can simply link to Media Matters and be done with it.

The problem is that the GOP makes it so damn easy to use Rush against them. Rush is a performer, and says stuff to sell advertising. The advertisers are the folks that forced him to apologize this weekend. Of course he's going to say bombastic things if it'll get him more attention.

However, the GOP enables him by ACTIVELY courting Limbaugh's blessing every 4 years. If they'd ignore him, like they do Savage or Coulter or Beck, then what Rush says wouldn't be so big an issue in the actual election.

The GOP is setting up Hannity for a similar position. Hannity is every bit bombastic as Rush, and the GOP actively seeks his approval when the elections roll around. Once Rush is retired or off the air, it'll be Hannity that the Left trots out to embarrass the Right.

He was obviously not serious. The fact you think he was shows your stupidity.

What Republicans Should Say

What Republicans Should Say

But again, I'd expect Rush to say that. He's got to make himself look important to sell advertising. So if Rush says he's the King of the World, I won't bat an eye.

Now, if Mitt came out and said Rush was leader of the Party, THAT would be news.

There is a difference between GOP "icon" versus GOP "head"

I consider William F Buckley both a conservative and Republican icon

I consider Rupert Murdoch the number one supporter of the GOP, since he is the key figure on spreading conservative ideology that Republicans need assimilated in order to win elections.

And I consider Rush Limbaugh as a conservative and Republican icon since he propels conservative ideology(with a twist towards cynicism) towards the mass of conservative and Republican voters.

By the way, what is the true difference between a conservative and a republican. I remember back when Obama won the elections, many people that I thought were hardcore republicans started saying they were conservatives, not republicans.

Does that mean there are conservative Democrats, conservatives Greens, There is no such thing as a conservative Libertarian. You are either a Libertarian or a Conservative, despite what Dr. Ron Paul describe himself.

Your post made it clear; I saw QUICK responses from Republicans. I like McCain, sh I wonder if he is a socialist to the DEDICATED right?

The truth is the Left doesn't need Rush to embarrass the Right. Not Rush nor Hannity nor Coulter (despite the fact that these bon vivants are plenty embarrassing on their own).

Nope! There is no need for a proxy when it comes time for the embarrassment of the Conservatives in America today. They seem to be doing fine all by themselves.

But so far as Rush is concerned, all one has to do is listen to his program and read the fawning words of his sycophants here on USMB to get a handle on the Limbaugh effect on far right politics. Within minutes of Limbaugh's pronouncement that women who seek contraceptive devices are, indeed sluts, the very same words were blossoming like mushrooms from this load of horseshit.

The Big Voice on the Right is how Limbaugh bills himself. A sounding brass for imbeciles and the unlearned is what he actually is.

Who calls President Obama the "Messiah" more, liberals or conservatives?

Probably the right. In a very mocking tone as the idea originated on the left.

What does the left expect? the left embraces collectivism, they also tried to pass Obama off as the answer to everything - hence the tag "messiah."

The left did it to themselves.

I love how they get all bent when they and Obama gets mocked.

Embarrass the right??

How do republicans embarrass themselves?

You mean like how democrats in North Carolina nominated Alvin fucking Greene???

You want to see embarrassing - take a look at the democrat party.

Bob Morris, Indiana Lawmaker, Calls Girl Scouts A 'Radicalized Organization' (VIDEO) Oops! Oh, and while we're talking Oops, how's Rick Perry doing today? He must make you proud!

But as proud as Sarah Palin or Christine "I'm not a witch" O'Donnell?

Are you such a devoted partisan that you honestly are never embarrassed by any of the nonsensical statements of the far right wing of whatever is left of the Republican Party?
