Oh these Republicans. Always trying to be comics. It was just a joke about lynching. What’s the big deal? Yeah motherfukers what’s the big deal?

Now let’s watch Republicans rush to her defense saying it was nothing about race.

Oh Goody! Another thread posted by a moron who takes the acts or words of a random person and tries to smear everyone in the Identity Politics category to which he thinks they belong.

Really it is just another character assassination by the dimshits. Mike Espy is a criminal with a long history of corruption and disgusting race based extortion.

A random person who just happens to be running for state senator. Who knew?

A person who is responsible for her own words and actions.

I see how that concept eludes you, but am pointing this out for the benefit of normal people.

Yeah it means not to lie like you and all dimshits do every time you open your mouths haha.

From the link:

They’re NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson, who is from Mississippi, said in a statement that Hyde-Smith's "decision to joke about ‘hanging,’ in a state known for its violent and terroristic history toward African-Americans, is sick."

"To envision this brutal and degenerate type of frame during a time when Black people, Jewish People and immigrants are still being targeted for violence by White nationalists and racists is hateful and hurtful," he added.

The racial elements of the comment were lost on few in a state where 38 percent of the population is black, and it earned a fair amount of backlash on social media.

Immigrants not an issue. Illegal's are a problem. There is a difference and most people are intelligent to know that no matter what their skin color is.

A lot of white folks have also been lynched so it is not just a matter of racism.

American Lynching

For a community to get so riled up as to the point of lynching someone...there is usually a very heinous crime involved.

Vigilantism is not the ideal state of justice but the crime rate was much lower back then.

Blacks aided and abetted by coinfused white liberals always want to be perceived as victims....aka playing the politics of blalck victimhood. Such nonsense.

The victim has become among the most important identity positions in American politics. Victimhood is now a pivotal means by which individuals and groups see themselves and constitute themselves as political actors. Indeed, victimhood seems to have become a status that must be established before political claims can be advanced. Victimhood embodies the assertion that an individual or group has suffered wrongs that must be requited. What seems new is that wounded groups assert a self-righteous claim that they stand for something larger than their particular injury. The article explores how and why victimhood has become such a powerful theme in American politics. It suggests that victimhood as politics emerged from the contentious politics of the 1960s, specifically the civil rights movement and its aftermath. Key factors include the reaction to the minority rights and women’s movements, as well as internal dynamics within the rights movements.

Mississippi senator, whose runoff opponent is black, jokes about 'public hanging'

White woman running in Mississippi jokes about her black opponent and a public hangings

G that’s just too hilarious for words. Republicans talking about hanging black people. And they swear they’re not racist.

When I was a kid they didn’t call it public hanging, they called it lynching.

Not all public hangings were lynchings. Indeed, the vast majority would not have been.

You are a moron.

Why are these right wingers defending lynchings? I don't get it.

I don't think it's really racism and certainly not defending lynching. Beyond doubt it's tone deaf, indefensible and illustrating a lack of empathy or even dialogue with 1/3 of the state.

Mississippi Governor Defies White House With His G.O.P. Appointee to Senate

We have a State republican party that is made up of more that 90% of Mississippi's white population, has virtually no black members. It could not be more segregated, and imo it's more a result of the civil rights voting quota set asides that outright racism. Hyde-Smith could easily meet with black Mississippians who want her help on some issue regarding land use or federal aid for education, and she's be no more likely to "tie" (-: their experiences to lynching (which only totally ended in the early 1950s) to the constituents she meets than she would be to California wildfires.

As the article links, she's rural populist, like the Governor - who is no racist, and who civilly attends the same church as do two lesbians who sued the State over same sex marriage.

Mississippi's changed from place where white and blacks rubbed up against each other to as being as segregated as any northern state.

It was still an indefensible comment, and she should have just said "hush mah mouth. Ah nevah ment an unkind werd."

When was that? When they had white only drinking fountains?

Our problem with our biggest minority was dealt with quite sucessfully under segregation......very little crime, most negroes had a job, and we all pretty much got along....then along came LBJ and the usual suspects..............and years of tragedies...and jails full of negroes who would jump at a chance to work on a slave plantation if they could only get out of the concrete jungle......but of course we are all equal...any progressive will tell you that.
